IONA's Unique Approach to the Convergence of SOA and Open Source Highlighted at Leading Industry Event; IONA CEO Peter Zotto Addresses Role of Open Source and Commercial Software in Successful SOA Strategies at Transformation and Innovation 2006
Business Wire, May 22, 2006
WASHINGTON -- IONA(R) Technologies (NASDAQ: IONA), a world leader in high-performance integration solutions for mission-critical IT environments, today announced that CEO Peter Zotto will participate as a featured speaker at Transformation and Innovation 2006, taking place May 22-24, 2006 at the Renaissance Washington D.C. Hotel. As part of a keynote address jointly presented with Winston Damarillo, CEO and Founder of Simula Labs, Mr. Zotto will engage the audience in a discussion of the "Future of Software" and the impact of open source software on the adoption of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA).
"Companies are moving to SOA in an effort to generate better ROI on their existing and future IT assets, streamline IT systems to be more responsive to business change and ultimately lower cost of ownership," explained Mr. Zotto. "Open source software delivers many of these same kinds of benefits and it's only natural that enterprises are looking for ways to incorporate open source technologies into their SOA deployments."
The "Future of Software" will be held Monday, May 22 from 11:30 am - 12:30 pm at Transformation and Innovation 2006. The event brings together influential practitioners and thought leaders involved in enterprise architecture and business transformation who will provide important insight into how the evolution of processes and systems drives corporate efficiency, effectiveness and competitiveness.
"The confluence of SOA and open source has the real power to shape how organizations think about their IT systems and how these assets can be used for true business transformation," said Nathaniel Palmer, chairman, Transformation and Innovation 2006. "This presentation will give attendees an important perspective on how open source and SOA innovation can have a positive impact on their business."
Mr. Zotto has extensive experience in leading and managing dynamic high-technology organizations. He has lived in Europe and worked extensively in international markets. Prior to joining IONA, Mr. Zotto was Chief Executive Officer and Director of WBT Systems, a pioneer in the e-Learning market. He has also held top executive positions at leading information technology companies including Digital Equipment Corporation.
