Business Wire, May 23, 2006

MILPITAS, Calif. -- Sigma Designs (Nasdaq:SIGM), a leader in digital media processing for consumer electronics, today announced that Samsung's new personal video recorder is based on Sigma's EM8620L media processor. The Samsung MR-30PA1 Anyview multi-codec multimedia personal video recorder (PVR) enables consumers to record video/television when using Anyview, and a supported Samsung TV (SPD-50P7HD, SPD-42P7HD).

The Samsung MR-30PA1 PVR allows users to playback recorded content, or any stored multi-media content (MPEG4, JPG, MP3 etc) with any TV that has external video inputs. The PVR also provides recording and time-shifting TV functions, only enabled when Anyview supported TVs are used at the same time.

"Our new PVR provides a seamless integration with our Anyview system, and easily incorporates multi-codec capability into the PVR," said Suksun Lee, vice president of R&D TV group of Visual Display Division, Samsung. "Sigma's EM8620L media processor provides the decoding and system control needed to create the most powerful, technologically advanced product for our customers."

The Samsung PVR provides a 300GB hard disk drive which can also be used for external HDD when used with Windows XP(TM) personal computers. The PVR's size is relatively compact so that consumers may record multimedia content, with ease of portability for connection to additional televisions that support HDMI connection.

"Samsung's new PVR is an innovative new addition to the consumer market and adds continued momentum for our media processors," said Ken Lowe, vice president of strategic marketing, Sigma Designs. "We are happy to participate in programs such as this, where we mutually strive to supply consumers with advanced features and convenience for the best entertainment experience."
