MapInfo Introduces New Location Intelligence Application for IBM Core Life Insurance Solution; MapInfo Prospecting Portlet for IBM WebSphere Portal Helps Insurance Agents Find Ideal Customers
Business Wire, May 23, 2006
LAS VEGAS & TROY, N.Y. -- MapInfo Corporation (NASDAQ: MAPS), the leading global provider of location intelligence solutions, today announced that IBM has selected MapInfo(R) technology to power the new Prospecting portlet in IBM's Core Life Solution for the insurance industry. Building on the company's relationship with IBM, the MapInfo Prospecting portlet enables insurance agents to identify and locate target customers based on neighborhood demographic, lifestyle and consumption patterns, helping increase sales and market share.
Built on MapInfo location intelligence technology, the Prospecting portlet enables insurance agents to easily visualize prospective customers in their assigned territory, along with key market demographics, to more effectively target their ideal customer segments. Agents can also optimize routes for sales calls and obtain driving directions, so they can make more efficient use of their time.
Reaching the Advanced Optimized IBM partner status last year, MapInfo solutions are available as portlets for IBM WebSphere Portal. The new Prospecting portlet was developed on the MapInfo Envinsa(R) location intelligence platform, which is built on an open, ACORD XML standards-based architecture designed for seamless integration into existing IT environments and business applications. Also within the Core Life Solution, MapInfo provides valuable "find the nearest" portlets with driving directions that enable insurance carriers to provide customers with easy to use self-service applications, such as agent or medical facility locators.
"With the selection of MapInfo location intelligence technology for the Prospecting portlet, MapInfo now provides two critical customer service applications within the IBM Core Life Solution--enabling consumers to find insurance agents and helping agents find ideal customers," said Craig Bedell, director, Global Insurance, MapInfo. "Insurance carriers are becoming more aware of the need for location intelligence analysis across the entire organization and an increasing number of them are relying on MapInfo technology, data and services to improve claims and policy management practices, reduce underwriting mistakes and better target customers."
