Ian Sole Elected 2006-2007 President of Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association

WINCHESTER, Va. -- American Woodmark Corporation (AWC) (NASDAQ: AMWD), a leading supplier of cabinetry to the new home construction and remodeling industries, announced today that Ian Sole, senior vice president, sales and marketing, has been elected president of the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association (KCMA) Board of Directors for 2006-2007. Sole succeeds James Lobley, president, Hagerstown Kitchens, Inc.

Elected to the KCMA Board of Directors in 1998, Sole has long served as an industry advocate. During his term as president, Sole seeks to achieve specific goals that align with the association's mission of serving the industry.

"I intend to continue development of KCMA capabilities for a stronger cabinet industry voice in Washington, D.C. and expand recognition of the KCMA and its members' contribution to the national economy," said Sole. "We encourage KCMA membership involvement in educational and career training programs for kitchen industry professionals. Education, advocacy and research programs will be a priority on my agenda to assist members to compete effectively in the global economy."

In addition, Sole will implement and promote the new KCMA Environmental Stewardship Program on a platform of "Durability and Sustainability." He plans to merge KCMA forces with the Hardwood Federation and support their efforts to the benefit of KCMA membership.

Sole joined American Woodmark as vice president of sales and marketing in 1997 and was promoted to his current position in May 1999. As senior vice president of sales and marketing, he is responsible for all sales, marketing and sales operations activities for the Company's three cabinet brands. Sole graduated from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, Wales, United Kingdom, with a BSC (Honors) degree in economics.
