iBloks Beta Creates Advanced Personalized Media and Self-Expression With Microsoft Windows Vista; One Unique Platform Delivers Personalized Entertainment™ and the Only Way to Easily Mix Photos, Music, Video, and Games
Business Wire, May 23, 2006
SAN FRANCISCO -- iBloks, creator of new self-expression software that addresses people's desire to personalize their digital media, announced today the availability of its public beta release in connection with the Beta 2 availability of Microsoft Windows Vista. iBloks' platform is designed to be a radically simple experience where people can easily mix multiple media types together using easy "drag and drop" functionality to create and share their personal iBloks via email, IM, social networks, web pages or blogs.
Built on Microsoft's new Windows Presentation Foundation, a component of WinFX, the managed code programming model for Windows Vista, iBloks' beta supports both Windows Vista and Windows XP. iBloks is one of the first commercial applications integrating Windows Presentation Foundation into a consumer software product.
"iBloks is an innovative example of how companies are developing software to create truly unique and personalized experiences with digital media," said Tim O'Brien, director of the Platform Strategy Group at Microsoft Corp. "iBloks is a fun and creative application that capitalizes on the power and richness of Microsoft Windows Presentation Foundation."
iBloks' platform provides the easiest way for people to create personalized, multimedia entertainment experiences to share using all major digital media formats including photos, videos, games, music and text. The free beta version of iBloks features three examples of personalization, the iBlok Mix Master, iBloks Sudoku and the iBloks Dancing Man multimedia mod. The iBloks platform will support many more mods and games in the future.
"Microsoft Windows Presentation Foundation enables iBloks to empower people to create digital media mixes of their photos, music, videos and games in one place and then easily share them with their friends. It's a new innovation in social networking," said Julia Miller, iBloks president and chief executive officer. "iBloks is a platform created to revolutionize self-expression."
"The way that artists express themselves and the desire for new ways to do so changes continually and iBloks is helping to expand artists' creativity," said Michael Ostin, veteran music industry executive and former President of DreamWorks Records, and a member of iBloks' advisory board. "Sharing personalized media files in a rich environment that supports music, videos and gaming while being easy enough for anyone to use is an exciting idea. iBloks now gives people an incredibly unique way to connect and express themselves."
