SYS Technologies Announces Launch of Vigilys Public Safety & Homeland Security Software Products; CA Office of Emergency Services Adopts SYS Solution
Business Wire, May 24, 2006
SAN DIEGO -- SYS Technologies (AMEX:SYS), a leading provider of information connectivity solutions that enable real-time, complex decision-making, today announced the release of its new flagship family of software products: Vigilys Commander and Vigilys Responder Mobile. The Vigilys applications can be used to more effectively manage incident response operations and enable efficient sharing of time critical information between responders in the field and supporting operations centers, and between cooperating private, local, county, state, federal, and DoD agencies.
Vigilys Commander is an open architecture, standards-based interoperability framework that will serve as the unifying foundation for all SYS Technologies' software products developed for public safety, homeland security and commercial markets. This includes SensorWorX remote monitoring solutions, cVideo surveillance and integrated security, and the TAPS decision support tool.
Vigilys Commander is a web-based situational awareness portal that enables data to be fused and visualized in geo-referenced maps or tabular views. Authorized emergency personnel can use any web browser, without special software, to access response-related information, manage and track resources in real time, and observe events as they occur in the field.
Vigilys Responder Mobile is a lightweight version of Vigilys Commander that operates on a vehicle-mounted mobile computer. Vigilys Responder Mobile brings incident-specific information, served by Vigilys Commander, to emergency personnel en route to, and at the scene of an incident. It provides responders in the field the ability to annotate maps with information that is then immediately shared with the operations center, and all authorized personnel supporting the incident mission. The software was designed to meet the demanding, daily requirements of responder operations in the field.
Together, Vigilys Commander and Vigilys Responder provide decision-support and collaboration tools that enable emergency management and field personnel to see first hand what is happening during an incident, and make informed decisions about how to best manage resources and execute effective response and recovery missions.
The California Office of Emergency Services (OES) and California Department of Transportation adopted the Vigilys application for the development and deployment of the Emergency Response Management Network (ERMN). Tom Worden, OES' Chief Technology Officer, said, "OES is encouraging local governments to consider deploying ERMN in their emergency Operations Centers to improve public safety situational awareness, response times, resource management, and organizational agility. ERMN will help improve situational awareness, orchestration of event information, and response decisions for both first responders and emergency managers across the State."
To further support market adoption of the Vigilys applications across public safety organizations, SYS has hired Michael St. John, former Operations Division Chief for the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department, to become the Director of Business Development for the Public Safety and Security Solutions Group. Mr. St. John will apply his years of public safety experience to product planning and sales and marketing efforts for SYS Technologies. "My career in public safety enabled me to evaluate first hand the need for greatly improved communications tools for first responders. The Vigilys family of products provides exactly what public safety officials need and have been seeking to manage complex operations where the timely and efficient exchange of information among various responding entities is crucial to incident management," said St. John.
"We are proud to introduce interoperability infrastructure and end-to-end response capabilities that deliver on our mission of public safety innovation," said Ben Goodwin, President of SYS Technologies' Public Safety and Security Group. "In particular, by enabling information sharing among field responders and operations centers, Vigilys Commander and Responder Mobile will help our customers make better decisions, more quickly, and reduce response times. After performing numerous product demonstrations, we have received a very enthusiastic response to the capabilities of Vigilys from the first responder community."
Cliff Cooke, CEO of SYS Technologies, stated, "The Vigilys product suite is a direct result of our acquisition strategy and our investment strategy. We combined products and capabilities from our Antin and Polexis acquisitions with funded Government programs and internal research and development funds to create an overall interoperability solution for our first responder customers. We are very excited about the ability of Vigilys to truly make a difference in managing the complexities faced by public safety officials as they work to minimize the impact of emergency situations."
