Layer 7 Technologies is First XML Gateway to Demonstrate WS-Policy Interoperability; XML Security and Networking Leader Shows Successful Interoperability with Leading Application and Middleware Vendors of Key SOA Standard
Business Wire, May 3, 2006
LAS VEGAS -- Layer 7 Technologies, a leader in XML Security and Networking today announced successful Web Services Policy (WS-Policy) interoperability with leading Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) application and middleware vendors including SAP, IBM, BEA, Sun and Microsoft. WS-Policy is an emerging W3C standard for expressing the security, reliability and transactibility requirements of interacting Web services in an SOA. Layer 7 is the only XML Gateway vendor to have participated in the SAP hosted WS-Policy Interoperability Workshop held April 25th through 27th in Walldorf, Germany.
"WS-Policy provides the missing ingredient in WS-* that will enable interoperable configuration, discovery, and enforcement of advanced operational semantics, such as security, reliability, and transactions," explained Anne Thomas Manes, VP & Research Director at Burton Group. "Many organizations choose to use an XML Gateway as a centralized policy enforcement point to increase scalability and performance of SOA message traffic, and WS-Policy support will enable seamless integration with the administration systems of the leading SOA platforms."
"WP-Policy is a vital component of the WS-* architecture and a key feature of Microsoft Windows Communication Foundation," said Ari Bixhorn, Director of Web Services Strategy for Microsoft. "As such, WS-Policy capable XML Gateways provide an important enforcement and management function for enabling secure, reliable and transacted Web Services."
Added Dr. Toufic Boubez, CTO of Layer 7 Technologies, "WS-Policy is central to delivering loosely-coupled Web services for flexible business integration. By supporting WS-Policy, the Layer 7 SecureSpan XML Gateway helps enterprises preserve flexibility without compromising security, scalability and manageability."
