Softub, Inc. Meets Stringent Efficiency Regulations Set Forth by the California Energy Commission

Business Wire, May 30, 2006

VALENCIA, Calif. -- Jim DiSanto of Softub(R), Inc. today announced that all portable spa models currently manufactured by the company had been tested in accordance with all applicable requirements and met the stringent Appliance Efficiency Regulations as set forth by the California Energy Commission. No product modifications were needed to meet these requirements. E[acute accent]"All of our models passed with flying colors and we did nothing to them but plug them in," stated Jeff Collins, Director of Engineering for Softub. The state of California is the first governing body to adopt energy efficiency guidelines for hot tubs. Similar to fuel economy standards for automobiles, all hot tubs sold in the state of California must meet a baseline energy usage level. All Softub models operate well under the required baselines for the units. E[acute accent]The Appliance Efficiency Regulations were established in 1976 in response to a legislative mandate to reduce California's energy consumption. The regulations are updated periodically to allow consideration and possible incorporation of new energy efficiency technologies and methods. The 2006 Appliance Efficiency Regulations (California Code of Regulations, Title 20, Sections 1601 through 1608), dated January 2006, were adopted by the California Energy Commission on October 19, 2005, and approved by the California Office of Administrative Law on December 30, 2005. These Appliance Efficiency Regulations replace all previous versions of the regulations. For more information, visit: http://www.energy.ca.gov/index.html. E[acute accent]Tom Thornbury, Founder and Chairman of the California-based company, stated, "We are committed to manufacturing a product that not only meets our customers' needs, but is environmentally responsible as well." E[acute accent]News of this certification coincides with Softub's 20th anniversary. As a result of this testing, Softub is listed in the California Energy Commission's Certified Database of energy efficient appliances under the portable/electric spa category.
