Avanquest Software and Hong Kong-Based GSPDA Complete Licensing Agreement; GSPDA to Bundle Popular Mobile PhoneTools Software with New S20 Smartphone
Business Wire, May 31, 2006
DENVER -- Avanquest Software, a leading developer and publisher of business and consumer software for the global PC market with operations in Europe, the U.S. and Asia, today announced that Group Sense PDA Limited (GSPDA), a leading Asian mobile handset manufacturer, has entered into a world-wide license agreement for Avanquest's Mobile PhoneTools software.
Under the agreement, GSPDA will bundle Mobile PhoneTools initially with its recently announced S20 feature-rich handset which includes high-resolution color screen, 1.3MPixel camera, video capture, MP3 audio and MP4 video players, Bluetooth, USB 1.0, and an SD memory card for storage of up to 2GB of applications, music, video and pictures. The S20, based on a Smartphone OS developed by SavaJe Technologies, will be offered under GSPDA's brand to operators in Asia and as a private label solution to help European and U.S. operators fill gaps in their portfolios.
The new agreement provides further validation for Avanquest's expansion strategy in Asia, which in 2005 included opening of an OEM sales division office in Shanghai to allow the company to work more closely with the region's rapidly growing number of mobile device design and manufacturing companies.
"We are extremely happy to be working with GSPDA to enable them to add value to their diverse offering to mobile operators and their subscribers," said David Wright, President, Avanquest Software's Denver-based OEM Division. "This OEM agreement is another milestone for Avanquest's new OEM operations in Asia, and is consistent with our focus to strengthen our presence in the region."
Mr. Francis Li, Marketing Director of GSPDA said, "The Avanquest's Mobile PhoneTools software enables GSPDA's first feature phone, S20, to communicate with PCs. By using the Mobile PhoneTools, besides synchronizing the contact information and calendars between the S20 and PCs, users can create and edit own screen background theme and wallpaper in PC and synchronize to their S20. It brings additional value to the phone user."
Avanquest's Mobile PhoneTools lets mobile devices "talk" to PCs, greatly expanding the capabilities of both. By easily sharing data between the mobile phone and PC, the software makes it easy for cellular subscribers to synchronize data between their handsets and personal computers in addition to personalizing their phones.
In addition to ensuring that contact information and calendars are synchronized and allowing use of the PC to create and edit content for downloading to the wireless device, Mobile PhoneTools also enables any cellular phone or Web-enabled mobile device to function as a modem for a user's laptop. This wide-area connectivity option makes Internet access possible almost anytime and anywhere without the need of a PCMCIA card or having to search for WiFi hot spots.
Mobile PhoneTools is compatible with Microsoft(R) Windows(R) 2000 and XP and offers syncing capabilities with popular desktop programs such as Microsoft Outlook(R), Outlook Express(R), and MS Exchange(R), as well as Lotus Notes. Avanquest has sold millions of copies of its Mobile PhoneTools and provides support for the product in 26 languages, including Chinese, Korean, Thai, Czech and Russian.
