Interphase Announces Availability of T1/E1 AdvancedMC Intelligent Communications Controller; Robust Controller Accelerates Deployment of Signaling and Media Solutions in AdvancedTCA and MicroTCA Designs
Business Wire, May 31, 2006
PLANO, Texas -- Interphase Corporation (NASDAQ: INPH), a leading international supplier of next-generation networking technologies, today announced the availability of the iSPAN(TM) 3639 AdvancedMC(TM) T1/E1/J1 Communications Controller. The new AdvancedMC adapter, which offers four or eight T1/E1 ports with Gigabit Ethernet and PCI-Express connectivity to the AdvancedMC connector, is an ideal solution for AdvancedTCA(R) and MicroTCA(TM) media and signaling applications such as serving GPRS support nodes (SGSN), home subscriber servers (HSS), media gateways, home location registers (HLR), SMS servers, MMS servers, mobile switching center servers, and IP-private branch exchanges (IP-PBX). E[acute accent]Designed for use in AdvancedTCA and MicroTCA platforms, the Interphase 3639 product features four or eight individually software selectable T1/E1/J1 ports available on either the front or rear, a powerful on-board Freescale(TM) MPC8560 PowerQUICC III 800MHz processor, and on-board support for multiple network protocols and protocol interworking. The iSPAN 3639 also supports AMC.1 connectivity for PCI Express and AMC.2 connectivity for Gigabit Ethernet, with future support for on-board I-TDM encapsulation to interwork TDM and IP protocols. The iSPAN 3639 is offered with a robust iWARE(R) software development suite spanning multiple protocols and operating systems, along with configuration and diagnostic tools. The iWARE software development suite is also pre-integrated and tested with multiple 3rd party higher layer protocol offerings, including the industry-leading Trillium(R) protocol stacks from Continuous Computing. E[acute accent]"Telecom Equipment Manufacturers (TEMs) are well on their way to adopting and incorporating AdvancedTCA and AdvancedMC technology into their solutions," said Garrett Choi, general manager of the Trillium business unit at Continuous Computing. "Our partnership with Interphase offers TEMs best of breed hardware and high quality Trillium protocol software for narrowband, high speed links and SS7 over ATM support." E[acute accent]"Signaling and media solutions in the wireless and wireline infrastructure need to support new packet-based networks in tandem with support for existing TDM infrastructure," said Prasad Kallur, vice president of strategic marketing at Interphase Corporation. "The iSPAN 3639 responds to the needs of telecom OEMs, with its ability to bridge diverse networks, in a high-performance, cost-effective and software-rich building block." E[acute accent]The iWARE software includes Q.SAAL & Q.2140/GR-2878 ATM link layer, SS7 (MTP1 & MTP2), Frame Relay, HDLC, ATM and ISDN protocols providing a high performance implementation on the board coupled with easy to use API's on the host processor for integration with higher layer protocols. With the integration of I-TDM, the iSPAN 3639 is capable of supporting up to 256 voice ports simultaneously and, together with the low layer protocols, offers a fully integrated solution component for voice and media gateways. E[acute accent]The iSPAN 3639, along with other Interphase AdvancedTCA and AdvancedMC products, is featured in an open source IP-PBX demonstration in the Interphase booth (#34052) at GLOBALCOMM 2006 in Chicago, Illinois, June 5-7, 2006. The demonstration features the iSPAN 3639 in the Motorola Centellis(TM) 1000 MicroTCA platform, configured for enterprise exchange solution providers. Interphase products are also on display with MicroTCA solutions from Motorola at the PICMG booth (#12042).
