PokerTek, Inc. Announces the Publication of 25 U.S. Utility Patent Applications at the End of March 2006

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- PokerTek, Inc. (NASDAQ:PTEK) announces the publication of 25 U.S. Utility Patent Applications at the end of March 2006. The newly published patent applications cover a broad range of the functions included in the Company's PokerPro(TM) system. The text of the published patent applications can be found by searching "PokerTek" on the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office's website (www.uspto.gov).
The 25 newly published Patent Applications (which are listed below) join the company's first Utility Patent Application which published in 2005 (US Published Patent Application 20050090304) and US Design Patent 512,466. A number of the Company's filed patent applications have yet to be published and the Company is continually reviewing its developments for inventions which may be protected by patents.
Patent applications are published approximately 18 months after they are filed and typically before examination by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and thus, they do not grant any rights in the claimed invention, such rights only arising once, and if, a patent is issued.
