OMG Announces Appointment of Jeffrey S. Lichtenstein as Vice President, OMG Regulatory Compliance Alliance Program; Lichtenstein to Lead Program That Provides C-GRID, the Comprehensive Open Database Compliance Reference Guide to Global IT Managers
Business Wire, May 4, 2006
NEEDHAM, Mass. -- The Object Management Group(TM) (OMG(TM)) today announced that Jeffrey S. Lichtenstein has been appointed Vice President and will head the OMG Regulatory Compliance Alliance (ORCA(TM)) program. He will be reporting directly to OMG President and Chief Operating Officer, William Hoffman.
OMG is an open membership, international organization of information system vendors, software vendors, and IT end-user companies. Through its members, the OMG produces and maintains specifications for interoperable software for the enterprise and Internet, for real-time and safety-critical applications, for embedded systems, and other networked environments. ORCA is an open community created to raise awareness of the complex regulatory compliance issues companies face today, and to provide them with resources to make them successful in their compliance efforts.
One of ORCA's most significant endeavors is the development of the Compliance Global Regulatory Information Database (C-GRID(TM)), of which IBM (www.ibm.com) is a charter sponsor. The C-GRID is being developed as an open database of rules, regulations, standards, and government guidance documents that require IT action, and a survey of the regulatory climate around the world. The goal of this project is to provide the de facto compliance reference guide for global IT managers. Contributions from the community to the database are being accepted and vetted by a team of regulatory compliance experts on an ongoing basis. See http://www.omg.org/orca-pr to add your submission.
The Regulatory Compliance Special Interest Group (RC SIG) is the body within OMG that is working to develop standards related to regulatory compliance. Their work will touch many vertical industries and areas including distributed computing and business process management. More information about OMG and the work of the RC SIG can be found online at http://www.omg.org/orca-pr.
> In his new role, Mr. Lichtenstein will be responsible for business development and promoting the activities of ORCA and the Compliance GRID to global IT managers, compliance officers and other executives tasked with regulatory compliance management."Today, more than ever, IT compliance regulations are on the minds of every CEO, CIO, CSO and Risk Management officer. They need the ability to mitigate risks associated with the myriad of regulations specific to their industry. OMG's Regulatory Compliance Alliance Program will be providing the most comprehensive compliance reference database tool available today in the form of the Compliance GRID program," said Jeffrey Lichtenstein, vice president, ORCA at OMG. "I am excited to join the OMG and the ORCA program, and to be a part of building such a progressive and unique community that has the potential to influence global IT compliance initiatives by enabling compliance automation best practices."
"Jeff's experience with IT asset management and deep business development background, coupled with his experience with some of the top IT companies around are very valuable and will enable him to hit the ground running," said William Hoffman, president and COO of OMG. "We are very pleased to welcome Jeff to the OMG team."
Prior to joining OMG, Mr. Lichtenstein was the Director of Business Development for Converge's NextPhase IT Asset Management Services. He has more than 20 years of experience with Regulatory Compliance, Business Process Management, IT Consulting, Software and IT Asset Management services with a variety of leading technology firms such as Data General, Digital, ADP, AT&T, GE, and EDS. Jeffrey holds a Six Sigma certification from GE and attended Bentley College. He currently resides in Boston's North Shore.
