Motion Computing Launches Touch Screen Slate PC; Powerful, Slim 12.1-inch Slate Ideal for Hospitality, Gaming and Retail Touch Applications
Business Wire, May 8, 2006
AUSTIN, Texas -- Motion Computing(R), a leader in ultramobile computing and wireless communications, today launched the LE1600TS, a light, slim slate PC with a touch screen. The LE1600TS is ideal for industries including hospitality, gaming and retail that do repetitive data entry with touch input software.
The LE1600TS leverages the acclaimed, innovative design and ergonomics of Motion's slim LE1600 slate tablet PC, replacing the digitized display with a resistive touch screen. The touch screen, a durable, five-wire grid membrane with a coating of transparent metal oxide, enables direct and accurate input with a finger or stylus.
"Motion is squarely focused on providing the mobile technologies that can bring increased productivity to mobile workers in vertical industries," said Debbie Crosek, Motion Computing director of product marketing. "The LE1600TS extends Motion's leadership in slate PCs into the industries that use menu-driven applications to improve efficiency."
Optimized for Touch Screen Applications
Motion designed the LE1600TS for vertical industries that need to run touch applications on a thin-and-light computer with a 12-inch screen, and are looking for carry-anywhere alternatives to existing touch-enabled computers built into kiosks or desktops. Professionals in hospitality, gaming and retail use touch screen applications to enhance customer service at the point-of-sale, improve accuracy in order-taking, and instantly access the company database over wireless connections.
"Motion's touch screen slate PC is the right balance of power and portability to bring new efficiencies and customer service enhancements directly to the point of sale," said Mark Tapling, COO of InfoGenesis. "At InfoGenesis, we're defining the future of hospitality through innovative technology tools that help hotels, casinos and restaurants improve their bottom line."
Maximizing mobility without compromising productivity
The LE1600TS weighs 3.1 pounds and features a slim, tapered design in a clipboard-sized form factor. With its small footprint, the slate PC is an ideal replacement for larger, fixed touch kiosks or desktop PCs. Its standard battery provides more than three hours of use, and a slim, optional Extended Battery attaches flat against the back of the LE1600TS, maintaining even distribution of weight and balance. When used in tandem, the two batteries are hot-swappable and can provide up to eight hours of computing time.
The Motion LE1600TS is available with an Intel(R) Centrino(R) mobile technology, including a 1.5GHz Low Voltage (LV) Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processor, the Mobile Intel(R) 915GMS Express Chipset, and the Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200 BG Network Connection. It can also be configured with an Intel Celeron M Processor ULV 373 (1.0GHz). The LE1600TS features Microsoft(R) Windows(R) XP Tablet PC Edition 2005.
Additional LE1600TS features include:
--Embedded Wi-Fi supporting latest standards and security protocols (802.11a/b/g)
--Embedded Bluetooth simplifying peripheral connections and reducing cabling hassles
--IrDA for quick wireless synchronization with PDAs or point-of-sale peripherals
--Compatibility with all Motion LE and L-Series peripherals, including the Convertible Keyboard mobile dock and external optical drives
--A range of protective carrying cases, including a bump case for point-of-sale use that bundles a magnetic stripe reader peripheral
The LE1600TS is available from Motion's worldwide network of more than 1400 value-added resellers or at www.motioncomputing.com, starting at $1,699 MSRP.
