Prudential Financial Appoints Sluyter Chief Actuary for Individual Life Insurance

NEWARK, N.J. -- Prudential announced today the appointment of Kent Sluyter as Chief Actuary for its Individual Life Insurance business. Sluyter is responsible for actuarial, product development, underwriting and claims functions. He reports to Jim Avery, president of Prudential's Individual Life business.

Most recently Sluyter was responsible for Prudential's Individual Life Insurance Underwriting, Claims and Special Investigations Units. He joined Prudential in 1981 and became a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) in 1986. During his career he has held management positions in a variety of functions, including Actuarial, Operations, Systems, Risk Management and Marketing.

"Kent's broad base of experience gives him a very comprehensive understanding of the individual life insurance business and the company," said Jim Avery. "He brings a wealth of knowledge to this position that will strengthen the foundation we have built over the past several years."

Sluyter has a bachelor's degree from Lafayette College.
