Special Edition of "WorldView" Outlines Justice's Commentary on Business and Society and Commemorates 150th Celebration of His Birthday

WALTHAM, Mass. -- As part of the launch of the 150th Jubilee celebration of the birth of Justice Louis D. Brandeis, the Brandeis International Business School announced today the release of a limited print edition of its WorldView periodical entitled "Brandeis On Business."

By commemorating the birthday of the famed Supreme Court Justice, Brandeis University salutes a man whose life continues to inspire its mission. This special edition of WorldView focuses on Brandeis's commentary on business, economic, and social issues.

"Much of his writing in these fields is of striking contemporary relevance," said Acting Dean F. Trenery Dolbear, Jr. The justice's work touches on areas such as corporate governance, the operation of the market, the provision of pensions, and business leadership.

The publication includes extensive annotated quotations from Brandeis's work and an essay by Seventh Circuit Appeal Court Judge, Richard A. Posner, entitled "Brandeis and Holmes, Business and Economics, Then and Now," which was originally delivered as a speech at the International Business School. Peter A. Petri, founding Dean of the School, has provided an introduction to Brandeis and his writings on business.

"Many are familiar with Brandeis's famous and highly relevant statement on transparency that 'Sunlight is said to be the best of disinfectants'," noted Dolbear. "This special publication reveals additional insights that he had which address many issues on today's business and legal agenda," he added.

The publication, which is available in limited quantities free of charge, may be obtained by visiting www.brandeis.edu/global and completing an online form.

The Brandeis International Business School, located in Waltham, Massachusetts, focuses on preparing talented professionals for leadership roles in the global economy.
