Extensive Apparel Line to Reach Basketball Enthusiasts Nationwide
LOS ANGELES -- PRIMEDIA Enterprises, the business development arm of PRIMEDIA, today announced a deal with Fine World LLC to develop a new line of apparel to complement its highly successful SLAM title. This marks SLAM's entry into the retail apparel market.
Fine World LLC will produce men's and boy's sports apparel; t-shirts, shorts, sweatshirts, sweatpants, jerseys, jackets, warm-up suits, and performance wear, as well as headwear, backpacks and gym bags. The products will debut at national athletic stores and better specialty retailers nationwide in Winter 2006.
"With SLAM's foray into apparel, we can deepen the brand's relevance and credibility across an important enthusiast niche. A broader retail presence enables new connections to SLAM loyalists and helps to elevate its profile as a definitive lifestyle brand and authoritative voice," said Sean Holzman, senior vice president of sales and marketing, PRIMEDIA Enterprises. "The line developed by FineWorld is illustrative of our commitment to creating new growth pathways and outlets for SLAM."
SLAM is the only magazine that is devoted 100% to the sport, culture and lifestyle of basketball. The magazine covers the NBA, College, High-School and Playground hoops, and showcases the latest basketball gear and music and video games.
Stuart Ullman, President of Fine World added, "SLAM is looked at as the must read among basketball followers and we saw great potential in extending its reputation and brand value beyond the pages of the magazine. The line we're debuting will reflect the identity and persona SLAM has established, while giving the consumer a wide range of options to suit both the sport and their personal preferences."
