Pioneer in Search Technology to Join Industry Discussion on the Role of Search in Enterprise IT Strategies
BEDFORD, Mass. -- Progress Software Corporation (NASDAQ: PRGS), a provider of leading application infrastructure software to develop, deploy, integrate and manage business applications, today announced that Dr. Larry Harris, vice president and general manager of EasyAsk Products for Progress Software, will participate in a panel discussion at the Third Annual Gilbane Conference on Content Technologies, which takes place November 28-30, 2006 in Boston, Mass.
The panel, entitled "Is Search a Tool, an Application, or a Platform?" will take place on November 29, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. (ET) Harris will join other search industry experts to discuss how search has become an important part of enterprise IT strategies. The panel will discuss how to interpret these differences when considering investments in search technology.

Dr. Larry Harris is the founder, vice president and general manager for EasyAsk Products at Progress Software. Harris' early work focused on developing a unique language analysis technique. He is considered an expert in database systems and computerized natural language. Harris was a professor of Computer Science at Dartmouth College and a visiting professor at MIT. Harris earned his PhD in Computer Science from Cornell University and is the author of AI Enters the Marketplace.
