PistolStar Centers Market Strategy on Microsoft Active Directory as It Extends Password Management Support to Multiple Enterprise Applications
Business Wire, Nov 28, 2006
PistolStar's Authentication Redirection to Microsoft Active Directory Enables Access to Disparate Systems Such as SAP and IBM Lotus
NASHUA, N.H. -- PistolStar, Inc. today announces it will center its product and market strategy on Microsoft Active Directory([R]) integration as it enables optimized authentication to applications such as SAP and IBM Lotus. PistolStar's Password Power 8 allows users to logon using Microsoft Active Directory credentials, permitting access to disparate applications without repeated password prompts and saving substantial login time.
"The thrust of our strategy is to allow organizations to take enterprise applications with unique password stores and redirect the authentication and password management for these applications to a central LDAP directory such as Microsoft Active Directory," said Thomas Hoey, president and CEO, PistolStar, Inc. "Authentication redirection creates one point of authentication, giving the user a single set of credentials to remember and one set of password policies for IT staff to manage."
With authentication redirection to Microsoft Active Directory, Password Power users can achieve seamless access to SAP NetWeaver, SAPGUI, and IBM Lotus Domino applications (Lotus Notes, Domino HTTP, Lotus Sametime and Lotus QuickPlace). Password Power also uses Microsoft Active Directory to simplify password authentication and management for IBM System i (AS/400), IBM Websphere, and Oracle.
Providing password management solutions since 1999, PistolStar has realized double digit growth from year to year over the past three years. The company's success is primarily due to reaching out to a wide range of vertical markets and broadening product support for various enterprise applications. PistolStar has established a foothold in banking and finance, pharmaceuticals, energy and consumer goods with a growing list of global enterprise customers such as Citigroup, People's Bank, sanofi-aventis, FirstEnergy, Pepco, The J.M. Smucker Company, Campbell Soup Company, and McDonald's.
"We are committed to developing solutions that address the challenges organizations face with securing their environment, yet simplify processes for IT staff and end-users," said Hoey. "We will continually take Password Power to the next level in order to deliver a product that enables optimal time savings and productivity gains, thus improving business results."
