LexisNexis Data Center to Host Data for Law Firms Using NetDocuments Service

Business Wire, Nov 29, 2006

DAYTON, Ohio -- LexisNexis today announced that its Miamisburg, Ohio data center will take on the primary role of managing and optimizing servers, networks, and software for all law firms using NetDocuments from LexisNexis. NetDocuments' Salt Lake City datacenter will serve as the redundant site, providing law firms with two world-class redundant data centers as a platform for SaaS-based document management, extranets, email management, and litigation services.

LexisNexis practice management solutions are part of LexisNexis Total Practice Solutions, the company's overarching offering of solutions to help lawyers and law firms succeed in the business and practice of law. LexisNexis offerings are designed for the way legal professionals work, in all of the areas essential to their success, including Client Development, Research Solutions, Practice Management and Litigation Services.

In February, LexisNexis formed an alliance with NetDocuments, the leading SaaS (hosted) document services provider, to exclusively offer the NetDocuments service. NetDocuments from LexisNexis experiences 99.995% service availability, excluding scheduled down times. Data is replicated automatically between the two data centers, with the ability of each facility to service 100% of the processing loads. Both data centers are engineered to the highest levels of security and redundancy without compromise. Data is physically backed up into a Granite Mountain Vault, capable of withstanding any man-made or natural disasters.

"We are extremely excited to take the next step in our relationship with NetDocuments. Using the LexisNexis data center in Miamisburg demonstrates our long term commitment to the SaaS model providing any size law firm with a world-class document/email/records management solutions with built-in 24/7 uptime," said Tim Titus, Director LexisNexis Managed Network Services.

The NetDocuments SaaS model provides law firms seeking a less costly and more streamlined approach to document and email management the ability to store documents and emails in a secure globally-accessible repository and eliminate all overhead associated with local management of servers, system and application software, databases, full-text indices, backups, and complex multi-tier DMS applications. Additionally, by adopting a model where business continuity for digital files is already built-in, law firms can eliminate expensive disaster recovery infrastructure and its associated labor and complex procedures.

"With ultimate security and protection for document privacy, integrity, and high-availability this offering is unprecedented. Both small and large law firms can enjoy world-class facilities with legal-specific infrastructure to optimize the stringent requirements of law firms," said Alvin Tedjamulia, CTO, NetDocuments.

Designed and developed as an on-demand document service for the Web, the NetDocuments service is the first SaaS offering for document management. The NetDocuments' patented and scalable technology provides a centralized repository for documents, emails and records where law firms can have a single-repository "one firm view" across geographically dispersed offices and access information from any Internet-connected device, including Blackberry[R] and Outlook[R].

The NetDocuments SaaS model delivers enhancements to customers faster, is more reliable than traditional software, reduces ownership costs, includes business continuity, provides automatic backups and redundancy, and eliminates the need for product upgrades and maintenance rollouts.
