Announces Built-For-Vista Terminal Emulation Solution

SEATTLE -- Strengthening its leadership position in the secure host access market, Attachmate Corporation today announced Reflection 2007, a next-generation terminal emulation solution built specifically to take advantage of enhancements in Microsoft Windows Vista. Combining the comprehensive productivity and security feature sets found in the company's existing EXTRA!([R]), Reflection([R]) and INFOConnect([R]) host access offerings, Reflection 2007 will provide maximum security for host sessions, an array of features for boosting user productivity, and the ability to seamlessly integrate into existing and emerging technologies, including Microsoft Vista and the Microsoft 2007 Office system.

Attachmate([R]) announces Reflection 2007 in conjunction with the launch of Microsoft Windows Vista and the 2007 Office system. As the only terminal emulation provider to develop a built-for-Vista application, Attachmate worked closely with Microsoft Corp. throughout the Reflection 2007 development process.

Available in spring 2007, Reflection 2007 will ship with the Certified for Windows Vista logo, assuring customers that the new offering will take full advantage of the enhanced security, manageability and productivity features found within Windows Vista and the 2007 Office system. Built for Windows Vista, Reflection 2007 also provides support for Windows XP users.

Reflection 2007 will be Attachmate's second terminal emulation offering to carry the "Certified for Windows Vista" logo, following the October 2006 certification of EXTRA! X-treme v9. Support and Certification for Windows Vista will serve to enhance Attachmate's entire host access product family, including Reflection, EXTRA! and INFOConnect, helping mutual customers maximize the value of their legacy assets to drive business productivity and lower total cost of ownership.

Reflection 2007 will provide support for existing and emerging technologies including Windows Vista, the 2007 Office system, Instant Search, LDAP Directory Services (including Microsoft Active Directory), Microsoft Group Policy, IPv6, Windows Terminal Server and Citrix MetaFrame environments, and Public Key Infrastructures (PKI).

Driving end-user productivity, Reflection 2007 offers support for the 2007 Office user interface. Support for this new "Ribbon" interface, used under license from Microsoft, allows for Reflection 2007 users to work within a familiar Microsoft environment resulting in higher productivity. Alternatively, administrators can opt for a "Classic" interface within Reflection 2007. Further accelerating data entry and host navigation, Reflection 2007 supports tight integration with Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Outlook and PowerPoint. Additionally, Reflection 2007 supports productivity tools that make traditional host applications work like modern Office applications, including Spell Check, Screen History, Auto Complete, Auto Expand and Scratch Pad.

Reflection 2007 will also provide unparalleled security features and functionality to help customers safeguard private data, shore up network defenses and meet increasingly stringent regulatory requirements. The new offering's comprehensive security features include cryptographic modules built to meet Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) 140-2 and Department of Defense (DoD) Class 3 PKI Public Key-Enabled (PKE) application requirements, as well as support for SSL/TLS, SSH, Kerberos and SOCKS security protocols.

Reflection 2007 also leverages Attachmate's patent-pending secure token authentication technology found in the Reflection for the Web Security Proxy, which enables customers to save valuable host cycles by offloading SSL/TLS processing from the host.

Existing Attachmate EXTRA!, Reflection and INFOConnect customers will be able to upgrade simply and seamlessly to Reflection 2007 with existing macros, keyboard maps, session files and customizations working as expected in the new offering. Attachmate customers whose EXTRA!, Reflection and INFOConnect software licenses are actively maintained will receive Reflection 2007 at no additional cost.
