Leading Returns Management Provider Extends Expertise into Product Recall Arena

AUSTIN, Texas -- Newgistics Inc., the leader in returns management solutions for direct retailers, today introduced the Newgistics Recall Solution, a comprehensive offering designed to assist companies tasked with a consumer product recall. Employing Newgistics' intelligent returns management technology, used by leading retailers like Neiman Marcus, Aerosoles, J.Crew and Road Runner Sports, the Recall Solution provides companies with a powerful, easy-to-implement program that generates increased recapture rates as well as maximized visibility into the entire recall process.

With large-scale product recalls recently falling under the consumer spotlight, the challenges of implementing an efficient, successful recall program have become increasingly apparent. From experience managing some of the largest product recalls in consumer history, Newgistics has developed a full-featured recall program that is now available to the broader retail community. As a pre-configured set of technologies and services, Newgistics' recall program allows companies to quickly implement the solution and proactively take steps to resolve a product-related customer crisis.

"With consumer safety and brand perception on the line, timely action and customer convenience are of the utmost importance," said Bill Razzouk, CEO of Newgistics. "By employing Newgistics' Recall Solution, companies can leverage established, third-party returns management technologies and services in order to promptly implement a recall program without taxing in-house resources or placing an unnecessary burden on the consumer."

Newgistics' Recall Solution offers retailers and manufacturers advanced support and intelligence throughout each phase of the recall process, from customer notification to product disposition. Once a company has developed the product recall message in conjunction with the Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC), Newgistics works closely with the company to promptly deliver customized recall information to impacted consumers via email or postcard communication. As a key component of the online recall program, customers can access the Returns Center, an online portal that captures customer information, creates a dynamic return label and conveys recall status information to the retailer or manufacturer. Alternatively, companies can implement the recall program offline, providing consumers with a dynamic return label along with the recall notification.

Utilizing SmartLabel[R] technology, the Recall Solution simplifies the recall process for the consumer by providing a pre-addressed, pre-paid bar-coded label that can be affixed to the return package. Consumers can then drop off the package anywhere in the U.S. Postal Service mail stream, including their home or office, minimizing the burden shouldered by the consumer and easing consumer frustration. Through the dynamic capabilities of SmartLabel[R], Newgistics provides companies with real-time intelligence on the status and location of each recall package, enabling companies to meet CPSC regulatory reporting requirements.

"With the launching of our recall program, Newgistics is aiming to extend our proven, best-in-class returns management solutions into new market areas," said Razzouk. "The Newgistics Recall Solution serves as further evidence of our unyielding commitment to deliver innovative solutions to retailers and consumers alike."
