First announced in February, Double-Take for Virtual Systems enables the use of real-time data protection and availability within virtual machines. Additionally, the new offering provides a pricing and licensing scheme that is more in line with customers' use of virtualization technology in their environments.
"In the past year, we've worked closely with Double-Take Software and VMware to deploy a number of virtualized server environments protected by Double-Take for Virtual Systems," said Victor Dellovo, president at Modcomp, Inc., a provider of IT systems integration, data acquisition and process control solutions. "The product's strong level of protection and manageability is appealing to our customers who are dealing with increasingly business-critical virtualized environments. What's more, the new pricing scheme fits their limited budgets - that's hard to find."
One such customer, resort hospitality provider Preferred Retreats, recently deployed a complementary solution offered to joint Double-Take Software and VMware customers that encompasses Double-Take for Virtual Systems with VMware virtual technology.
"Accurate, up-to-date and readily accessible data is critical to our operations," said Seth Copland, director of information technology at Preferred Retreats. "And because we work in a client-services environment, we can't afford to lose data or productivity due to a disaster or disruption. By using Double-Take for Virtual Systems with VMware's virtualization products, we can continue to work effectively and efficiently - even during a system crash or outage. We don't miss a beat, which is crucial to our business mission."
In April, Double-Take Software also announced plans to develop Double-Take for VMware Infrastructure, which is virtual machine replication and failover software for VMware Infrastructure customers. Following, in August, the company unveiled its professional services offering for VMware customers, which helps customers more easily deploy Double-Take alongside VMware products.
"A great majority of our customers have deployed disaster recovery improvements with VMware Infrastructure as virtualization radically improves the economics of deploying disaster recovery solutions through single-step recovery procedures, and independence from redundant hardware," said Hatem Naguib, director of global partners and solutions at VMware. "Not only does Double-Take Software capitalize on the technology benefits of VMware Infrastructure, but they have also released a new pricing and licensing scheme specially optimized for virtualized environments."
