Jiangsu Telecom Deploys E320 Broadband Service Routers to Enable Introduction of IPTV and Multiplay Services
SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Juniper Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:JNPR) today announced that Jiangsu Telecom, a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Telecom, has deployed E320 Broadband Service Routers to expand network edge capacity and meet subscriber demand for IPTV, video on demand and other advanced IP services. Jiangsu Telecom selected the E320 because its best-in-class Ethernet interface density, superior reliability and unmatched scalability will enable Jiangsu to cost-effectively support more subscribers and introduce new services on its broadband network. The new E320 routers join the service provider's existing installed base of Juniper Networks E-series routers.
"Jiangsu Telecom is leveraging the high performance and superior density of our flagship E320 Broadband Services Router to efficiently support the increasing demand for their new multiplay services," said Eric Yu, Juniper's vice president of Greater China. "IPTV, in particular, has been well-received in China and is an important service provider revenue source. The E320's industry-leading scalability and operationally proven JUNOSe features enable Jiangsu Telecom to confidently roll out innovative services to their broadband customers, now and for many years in to the future."
Juniper's E320 is the industry's largest capacity broadband services router and is designed to address the unique requirements of service provider multiplay servicesCoa multitude of flexible and customizable services that go beyond basic triple play service offerings. With support for high density Gigabit Ethernet and 10 Gigabit Ethernet interfaces, as well as industry leading subscriber density, the E320 enables Juniper customers to effectively support the high bandwidth, large scale demands required by central office deployments and multiplay services.
The E320 runs the powerful JUNOSe operating system, common to all E-series routers, which has been field-proven in the largest and most demanding service provider networks worldwide. By sharing a single, consistent operating system across all E-series platforms, JUNOSe ensures consistent feature set, rapid service rollout and a simple operational environment.
"While basic Internet access has driven China's rapid broadband subscriber growth, the market is now turning to value-added services such as those offered by Jiangsu Telecom's expanded network," added Yu. "Forward looking Chinese service providers like Jiangsu are deploying Juniper Networks E320 platforms to create agile and open networks that address today's opportunities while providing the scalability, capacity and flexibility to accommodate future service growth without network redesign."
