Business Wire, Nov 9, 2006
Worldwide Entries Show Universal Appeal of Humor
TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Ulead Systems, Inc., a subsidiary of InterVideo Inc. (NASDAQ:IVII), has announced the winners in the first ever Ulead VideoStudio[R] Funny Video Contest. The contest invited non-professional video enthusiasts to submit short, humorous films created using VideoStudio. The online competition had a distinct international flavor, drawing hundreds of entries from as far as Spain, Russia, India, the UK and Sweden.
"Expressing yourself through video is a worldwide phenomenon, and it was great to see how humor transcends cultural boundaries," said Steve Ro, CEO of InterVideo. "We were impressed by the way consumers made sophisticated use of VideoStudio's easy and fun editing tools, effects and filters to create great-looking videos."
The competition was held in cooperation with DropShots (www.dropshots.com), a family-friendly video and picture sharing site. The site enables users to upload video automatically without worrying about formats or frame sizes. A panel of Ulead judges narrowed the field down to 100, and selected the final winners based on editing skill, originality, and "fun factor."
Winner
First-place winner was Frank Dunlop, of Ireland, whose spoof video "Bionic Boy" made excellent use of VideoStudio's blue screen overlaying and other effects. He will receive a Sony[R] DV Camcorder. When notified of his win, Frank said, "That's fantastic news, I am ecstatic! Thank you so much. To be honest, the Ulead software did all the work. It's excellent. I own other video editing software, but I always use VideoStudio. Less complicated, easier to use and much, much faster - and it gets better with each release!"
