Betz will lead Bridgewater's direct sales and service activities in EMEA, and work closely with the company's established sales channels including Nortel Networks and Alcatel. With the company actively engaged in trials with service providers and partners across Europe, Betz will help Bridgewater accelerate opportunities in broadband and GSM markets. The appointment of Betz follows the opening earlier this year of Bridgewater's European headquarters and the expansion of operations in Asia.
Prior to joining Bridgewater Systems, Betz spent 20 years in senior positions within the sales, marketing and product management groups of leading telecommunications and technology organizations. Betz most recently served as vice president and managing director of Whale Communications' EMEA operations. He also held a series of high-level roles at a number of networking companies including Concord Communications, System Management Arts (SMARTS) Inc., Compuware Corp., Oracle and IBM.
"Our continued international expansion builds on strong interest from service providers across the globe who are seeking solutions that help them quickly launch new services and maximize profits," said Ed Ogonek, president and CEO, Bridgewater Systems. "Mike's leadership skills and thorough understanding of the market will play a key role in strengthening our presence among service providers in this region."
