Altiris Integrates Security with Configuration Management to Automate System Compliance, Data Protection and Threat Mitigation
Business Wire, Oct 11, 2006
New Altiris([R]) Client Security Management Suite([TM]) software addresses the most pressing threats to employee productivity and business computing
ORLANDO, Fla. -- Altiris, Inc. (Nasdaq:ATRS), a pioneer of service-oriented management solutions, today announced the new Altiris([R]) Client Security Management Suite([TM]), an integrated bundle of security and configuration management solutions that automate compliance, data protection and security threat mitigation. The suite will include one new solution, integrated with the Altiris configuration management database, to help Altiris customers further protect data and business continuity.
Companies today must protect themselves from security breaches, failed audits, malware, regulatory compliance, and theft of corporate and client data. Client Security Management Suite will address these threats by providing three main benefits to customers:
* Compliance assurance - Satisfy an increasing number of regulations and harden systems against security breaches.
* Data protection - Maintain employee productivity while keeping data from getting into the hands of thieves and malicious employees.
* Threat mitigation - Prevent malware from propagating and exploiting a system and enhance control of questionable software applications.
Dwain Kinghorn, Altiris CTO, said, "By the end of the year, we will have more than ten security management solutions integrated with the Altiris service-oriented architecture and configuration management database. We have listened to our customers and made the integration of system security and configuration management technologies a top priority. The delivery of Altiris Client Security Management Suite helps to break down technology barriers between security and configuration management to further reduce the cost and complexity of securing technology assets."
Until now, the industry has lacked centralized security solutions integrated with existing systems management solutions built on a configuration management database. In addition, standard perimeter defenses are no longer enough to protect businesses from new, more sophisticated threats.
Altiris is working to make security predictable and repeatable by integrating it with an industry-leading configuration management solution. A layered approach to security and configuration management helps protect business assets against human, network and system-level threats and vulnerabilities. Altiris service-oriented management solutions are integrated through a single configuration management database and support industry best practices to help deliver computing system security from rapidly proliferating threats.
Altiris Client Security Management Suite will include the following software solutions:
* Altiris([R]) SecurityExpressions([TM]) for Clients - policy-based security audit and compliance
* Altiris([R]) Endpoint Security Solution([TM]) - extended protection of data and endpoint connectivity
* Altiris([R]) Local Security Solution([TM]) - centralized password provisioning, randomization and enforcement
* Altiris([R]) Application Control Solution([TM]) - prevent occurrences of malware, manage system privileges and run questionable software in a virtualized environment
