The National Collegiate Athletic Association Appoints Siemens Vice President and COO Christi Pedra to Its National Leadership Advisory Board of Directors

INDIANAPOLIS & NEW YORK -- The NCAA today appointed Christi Pedra, vice president and chief operating officer of Siemens' US sales organization, to its National Leadership Advisory Board of Directors. Dr. Myles Brand, president of the NCAA, announced the newest addition to the board at the organization's annual meeting in New York City.
"The NCAA is committed to developing innovative and fair practices and policies that promote sports participation in our nation's college and university system. Our goal is to recognize and reward students-athletes, coaches and administrators who cultivate sportsmanlike environments and a healthy and productive balance between academics and athletics," said Brand. "Christi will bring to the NCAA community direct experience she has gained through Siemens' programs that actively promote math and science education as well as teaching - addressing a critical lapse in our education system that the entire country is trying to solve. Christi's insights, management expertise and strong network of influencers will benefit our member institutions and ultimately help us better serve our constituencies."
Pedra is the lead sales executive for Siemens One, the 'whole-house' sales organization for Siemens USA, responsible for developing and managing the company's integrated sales strategy and regional business development and vertical markets outside the public sector. She joined Siemens in 1985 and has held a variety of sales and management positions in the Communications division. Pedra holds a Master's degree in Business Administration from Rutgers University.
In addition to promoting math and science education through a variety of programs aimed at grade school, high school and college students as well as teachers, Siemens is currently in its third year of sponsorship of the Siemens Trophy which is awarded to the national men's college basketball champions at the end of the season.
