Xirrus XS-3900-16 Wi-Fi Array Outperforms Leading Enterprise Class Access Point for Outdoor Range Performance in Tolly Group Test
Business Wire, Oct 16, 2006
WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. -- Xirrus, Inc., the only provider of high capacity, long range Wi-Fi products that can effectively extend wired network capabilities to wireless - without compromise, announced today that the Xirrus XS-3900 Wi-Fi Array significantly outperformed a leading Enterprise-class access point in outdoor range tests performed by The Tolly Group.
"As the only company doing multi-radio high-bandwidth backhauls, the latest Tolly Group test results further attest to the Xirrus Wi-Fi Array's capabilities," said Dirk Gates, CEO of Xirrus. "We are proud to have received Tolly's Up to Spec certification, a prestigious and well-deserved validation of our innovative design and technology."
Outdoor range tests were conducted between a pair of Xirrus XS-3900 Wi-Fi Arrays, which each have 16 high-gain, multi-sector antennas as well as between a single Wi-Fi Array and an end-user station using a standard 802.11a/b/g wireless card.
"We were impressed by the capacity and throughput capabilities of Xirrus' Wi-Fi Array," said Kevin Tolly, president, CEO and founder of The Tolly Group. "Test after test, Xirrus' solution outperformed the leading Enterprise-class class access point."
The highlights of the tests prove that Xirrus' Wi-Fi Array:
* Provides up to 48 Mbps data rate connection from a distance of 2,700 feet in Wireless Distribution System mode
* Covers an actual distance of 1,700 feet using a single Xirrus XS-3900 Wi-Fi Array
* Delivers up to 15 Mbps of TCP throughput over a distance of 2,700 feet in Wireless Distribution System mode
* Provides up to a 6 Mbps data rate connection from a distance of 1,700 feet using a single Xirrus XS-3900 Wi-Fi Array
As a result, these high bandwidth backhauls make provisioning Wi-Fi within large campus areas, retail stores and warehouses more cost effective and easier to deploy because cabling and labor expenses are lowered. By providing aggregate throughout of 15 Mbps at distances over a half mile, Xirrus' Array functionality also makes it an ideal solution for many network managers charged with delivering connectivity in large city environments where cabling is either impractical or impossible.
