Business Wire, Oct 17, 2006
LEXINGTON, Mass. -- BladeLogic, Inc., the leading provider of next-generation data center automation software, announced today that it will host a webinar on Thursday, October 19th, 2006 at 11:30 a.m. (ET) entitled, "Effectively Managing Server Consolidation and Data Center Relocation Projects." The presenters will include Christopher McDaniel, Director of IT Operations, Rearden Commerce, and Andi Mann, Senior Analyst, Enterprise Management Associates.
With the advent of virtualization, cost control initiatives and today's distributed computing paradigm, more and more IT organizations have undertaken server consolidation and/or data center relocation initiatives in order to keep pace with increasing IT and business demands. By doing so, these organizations have been able to:
* Significantly expand and upgrade their data center server and application infrastructure
* Decrease the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) of their IT infrastructure by reducing staff and hardware costs through server consolidation
* Identify means to consolidate server infrastructure using virtualization to control the number of servers
* Improve business continuity to ensure data center replication capabilities
* Quickly integrate server and application infrastructures due to key business events such as mergers/acquisitions, expansions, business downturn and new partners
In this webinar, McDaniel and Mann will discuss some of the challenges IT organizations face with data center relocation and server consolidation from configuration management and compliance assurance perspectives, such as:
* How to ensure that the relocated server/application infrastructure is compliant with the baselines used during the move or relocation
* Best practices for Logical, Physical and Rationalized server consolidation
* If the driver for the move or relocation is business continuity, how to ensure continuous compliance between primary and secondary sites
* How to integrate server/application infrastructures across data centers if consolidation is a driver for the move or relocation
* How to seamlessly migrate the necessary IT controls to ensure compliance across security, operational and regulatory requirements
