CRYPTOCard Partners with Pyn Logic to Make It Simple to Protect Databases with Two-Factor Authentication
Business Wire, Oct 18, 2006
Two-Factor Authentication Eliminates the Massive Database Security Risk Resulting from Weak and Outdated Static Passwords
WELLINGTON, Fla. and OTTAWA -- CRYPTOCard (www.cryptocard.com), the leading authentication technology developer for heterogeneous environments, today announced that it has partnered with Florida-based network database security company, Pyn Logic. CRYPTOCard's two-factor authentication tokens now integrate with Pyn Logic's innovative Enzo[TM] security solution to make it simple for organizations to enforce tight database authentication controls for a rapidly-growing number of database servers.
Acting as a security guard the Enzo platform creates an invisible protection layer around databases to enforce granular authentication controls and simplify real-time monitoring. Enzo blocks unwanted database connections by inspecting and enforcing four critical components: who, what, when, and where. Utilizing CRYPTOCard tokens, Enzo provides credential aliasing and two-factor authentication to prevent "side-door" attacks by positively identifying users accessing sensitive databases. This enables corporations to implement a highly-granular database access control framework that significantly increases existing security capabilities.
Developed to meet real-world requirements - where Linux and Mac workstations often live in a mixed Microsoft (Nasdaq:MSFT) Windows domain, with Windows clients and Apache or IIS Web servers - CRYPTOCard's event-based two-factor authentication tokens make it simple and cost effective to eliminate weak static passwords by generating a random password for every logon attempt. One-time passwords cannot be reused by hackers and do not need to be memorized by users - eliminating the help-desk costs associated with resetting forgotten passwords, and the security risk resulting from users writing them down.
"An organization cannot guarantee system security if it cannot positively identify each individual user, and CRYPTOCard's two-factor authentication technology makes this a simple process for Windows, Linux, or Macintosh users," explained Neil Hollister, CEO, CRYPTOCard, Inc. "CRYPTOCard is proud that its user-friendly tokens now integrate with Pyn Logic's innovative Enzo platform to make it simple and cost effective for organizations to eliminate the database security risk resulting from weak static passwords."
"Pyn Logic prides itself on providing its clients with the finest database security available, and CRYPTOCard's two-factor authentication tokens have simplified this task," explained Herve Roggero, Managing Partner, Pyn Logic LLC. "Integrating CRYPTOCard's tokens with the Enzo platform provides exactly the user-friendly, simple-to-administer, and cost-effective database security Pyn Logic's clients demand."
