OPNET Named One of Maryland's Fastest Growing Technology Companies in Deloitte's Technology Fast 50 Program
Business Wire, Oct 2, 2006
BETHESDA, Md. -- OPNET Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:OPNT), a leading provider of management software for networks and applications, today announced that it has been named to Deloitte's prestigious Technology Fast 50 program for Maryland. The Technology Fast 50 Program for Maryland is a ranking of the 50 fastest growing technology, media, telecommunications and life sciences companies in Maryland by Deloitte & Touche USA LLP, one of the nation's leading professional services organizations. Rankings are based on the percentage revenue growth over five years from 2001-2005.
OPNET CEO, Marc A. Cohen, credits product innovation, sales force growth, and expansion of channel and strategic partnerships with the company's 96% revenue growth from 2001-2005. Marc Cohen stated, "We are honored to be included among the elite group of companies receiving this distinction from Deloitte. We've grown our team and our business by creating new technologies that focus on analytics. OPNET's solutions uniquely provide actionable analysis of the behavior of applications, networks, and systems. In the six years we have been a public company, our revenue has grown four-fold, we completed three acquisitions, and we entered into a global distribution agreement with Cisco Systems."
OPNET Technologies' increase in revenues of 96% from fiscal 2001 to fiscal 2005 resulted in a 37th ranking in the Technology Fast 50 for Maryland. To qualify for the Technology Fast 50, companies must have had operating revenues of at least $50,000 in 2001 and $5,000,000 in 2005, be headquartered in North America, and be a company that owns proprietary technology or proprietary intellectual property that contributes to a significant portion of the company's operating revenues; or devotes a significant proportion of revenues to the research and development of technology. Using other companies' technology or intellectual property in a unique way does not qualify.
"Deloitte's Maryland Technology Fast 50 companies have shown the strength, vision and tenacity to succeed in today's very competitive technology environment," said Mr. Andrew Harrs, Deloitte's Southeast TMT RIL Regional Managing Partner. "We applaud the successes of OPNET and acknowledge it as one of the very few to accomplish such a fast growth rate over the past five years."
The Maryland Technology Fast 50 program is presented by Deloitte and sponsored by Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr, NASDAQ and UK Trade & Investment, in association with media sponsors PR Newswire and Washington SmartCEO Magazine.
Winners of the 16 regional Technology Fast 50 programs in the United States and Canada are automatically entered in Deloitte's Technology Fast 500 program, which ranks North America's top 500 fastest growing technology, media, telecommunications and life sciences companies.
