ST. LOUIS -- Gary P. Freeman, RPh., MBA, has been named vice president of the pharmacy group purchasing program of Amerinet Inc., one of the nation's leading health care group purchasing organizations.

Freeman brings more than 28 years of health care experience to his new role. Prior to joining Amerinet, Freeman served more than eight years as the director of the pharmacy program for AllHealth Inc., a regional group purchasing organization serving the Mid-Atlantic states. In addition, Freeman has significant hospital experience serving as the pharmacy director of three hospitals in the Philadelphia region. With an interest in pharmacy automation, Freeman also worked for the information technology companies Shared Medical Systems and Micah Systems, as well as in the information services for a large multi-hospital health care organization.

"I am very excited to be part of the Amerinet organization - it's a tremendous opportunity," said Freeman. "Pharmacy is a vital aspect of the health care industry, and my goal is to make the pharmacy supply chain more efficient and less costly for our members."

Freeman holds a bachelor of arts degree in psychology from Temple University, a bachelor of science degree in pharmacy from Temple University School of Pharmacy, and a master of business administration degree from St. Joseph's University. He is a member of a number of professional organizations, including the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists and HIGPA, and served as an adjunct faculty member of the Temple University School of Pharmacy.

"We are pleased to have someone of Gary's caliber leading our pharmacy group. He brings a great deal of provider and industry experience, leadership and vision to the position," said Allen Dunehew, Amerinet's chief contracting officer.

Amerinet is one of the most innovative and effective health care group purchasing organizations in the United States, partnering with members to improve their operating margins. More than 2,000 hospitals and 40,000 non-acute care facilities create new revenue and reduce expenses with Amerinet's tools for group purchasing, supply chain management, clinical consulting, revenue cycle management, and information and education.
