PortalPlayer technology designed into feature-rich personal media player that breaks the $100 price threshold for 2GB players

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- PortalPlayer, Inc. (Nasdaq:PLAY), a leading supplier of semiconductors, firmware and software for personal media players and secondary display-enabled computers, announced today that its personal media player platform technology has been designed into the SanDisk Sansa c200 family of affordable, feature-rich MP3 players. This announcement comes on the heels of the Sansa e280 introduction in August, which also uses PortalPlayer's technology and offers 8GB of flash memory storage.

The SanDisk Sansa c200 personal media players incorporate a PortalPlayer platform similar to the one that powers the award-winning Sansa e200 family of products. The c200 MP3 players feature a color display, a microSD card slot, digital FM radio, voice recorder, a hi-speed USB 2.0 interface and up to 2GB memory. Content and subscription music can be downloaded from on-line music providers such as Rhapsody, Napster and Yahoo! Music. Suggested retail prices for the new Sansa c200 are expected to be $79.99 for the 1GB unit and $99.99 for the 2GB unit.

"We are very excited about Sandisk's decision to utilize our technology to help drive feature rich personal media players to sub-$100 price points with their Sansa c200 family of products," said Scott Tandy, vice president of marketing at PortalPlayer. "By extending some of the Sansa e200 features into the c200 family while keeping costs low, we believe that SanDisk has made a very compelling product for the mainstream personal media player user."
