AppRiver Removes Limits on Mailbox Storage for Hosted Microsoft Exchange Service
Business Wire, Oct 3, 2006
Network Administrators Receive Unlimited Mailbox Storage for First Time
GULF BREEZE, Fla. -- AppRiver LLC, a leading provider of business email security solutions, announced today that it will offer unlimited mailbox storage as part of its Microsoft Exchange Hosting service, which will continue to cost businesses just $12.95 per mailbox per month and includes SecureTide[TM], the company's powerful inbound and outbound spam and virus protection.
Currently, most hosted Exchange vendors offer 200 MB to 500 MB of storage, requiring IT administrators to continually manipulate storage allocation and closely monitor the Exchange Hosting line item in their budget. The unlimited plan from AppRiver removes the time consuming task of quota management, enabling businesses to benefit from the collaboration and mobility offerings of Exchange without storage limitations.
AppRiver cited continuing growth of disk capacity available from the storage industry and the reduction in email clutter made possible by the effectiveness of its SecureTide[TM] service as two of the key factors that allowed it to move to the unlimited storage model. Complete details about AppRiver's new service model can be found at www.appriver.com/exchange/mailbox.asp
"AppRiver is the first Microsoft Exchange hosting company to offer unlimited mailbox storage," said Scott Cutler, AppRiver's executive vice president. "Email is meant to be a productivity enhancer. Quota monitoring by IT managers and continual requests by end users for additional space are not enhancements. We want to reduce complexity and remove storage from the list of topics to consider when deciding on a Hosted Exchange provider."
"Given the growing use of email and the decreasing storage costs this was inevitable," commented Michael Osterman, founder, Osterman Research Inc., Black Diamond, Washington, a leading analyst firm in the messaging and collaboration space. "For those with in-house systems tired of fighting the storage management problem with email, this represents an excellent alternative. For companies already deployed on a hosted service, this eliminates the hard and soft costs associated with managing storage and mailbox quotas. This is consistent with AppRiver's philosophy of bringing high quality solutions to market while maintaining competitive pricing."
Targeted at the corporate, government and educational markets worldwide, AppRiver's Exchange Hosting with Shoreline[TM] reduces the complexity and investment required to provision and maintain Exchange 2003. The Shoreline Control Panel empowers end users, providing a web-based Outlook configuration wizard that allows them to set up accounts, access email settings for mobile devices, view mailbox usage and reset their own passwords.
AppRiver's Exchange Hosting environment features a redundant architecture that eliminates the possibility for a single point of failure. The hosting facilities are SAS 70 level II audited, and Microsoft-certified staff members are on site to provide any necessary technical support.
AppRiver's Exchange Hosting was voted a winner - first runner up - in the Exchange Hosting category of the Readers' Choice Awards sponsored by MSExchange.org, a leading Microsoft Exchange Server resource site. MSExchange.org, a leading Microsoft Exchange Server resource site, conducts regular polls to discover which product is preferred by Exchange administrators in a particular category of third party solutions for Microsoft Exchange Server.
Users of Exchange 2003 have access to company address books, contact management, public folders and file sharing, company calendar for group scheduling, and Outlook Web access. Hosted Exchange users benefit from these features without the overhead required to build and maintain Microsoft licensing and an Exchange environment. AppRiver also offers wireless messaging through BlackBerry Enterprise Server, Goodlink, and Microsoft ActiveSync.
