Quest and IBM Deliver Bundled Productivity Offering for IBM DB2 Developers
ALISO VIEJO, Calif. -- Quest Software, Inc. (Nasdaq:QSFT) today announced the release of an expanded freeware version of Toad[TM] for IBM DB2[R] and a new program with IBM to offer the freeware as part of a bundled offering. The DB2 "Developer in a Box" freeware offering also includes the IBM DB2 Express-C database. This freeware edition of Toad's award-winning family of products that has more than 500,000 users worldwide is the latest step in Quest's continuing strategy to raise the standard of tools that are available at no charge to the database management community.
"Toad for DB2 brings additional value to IBM DB2 customers who have previous experience with Oracle and other data servers, expanding the value of their existing skill sets," said Bernie Spang, director, IBM Data Servers. "With the Toad for DB2 and DB2 Express-C 'Developer in a Box' bundle, Quest and IBM are making it even easier for developers and analysts to use their existing skills to become more immediately productive in a multiple data server environment."
"With IBM DB2 representing the backbone of many IT organizations worldwide, Quest and IBM remain dedicated to the developer and business analyst communities that are responsible for maximizing the value of the data contained within DB2," said Steve Hilker, director of DB2 product management, Quest Software. "With this new offering Quest also continues its commitment to helping organizations realize greater return from their heterogeneous database investments. With Toad, they can leverage their existing skill sets across multiple database platforms."
Toad for DB2 freeware offers the DB2 developer and analyst communities powerful features including:
* An enhanced data grid with no restriction on the number of rows that can be viewed, enabling both analysts and developers to generate comprehensive, reliable reports.
* The Toad Project Manager, which provides a DB2 work area with a single interface to store and manage frequently accessed files and web pages, reducing the amount of time spent performing rewrites and hunting through reference materials.
* No expiration date and no restriction on the number of users, enabling organizations of all sizes to quickly adopt, install and employ Toad for DB2 to provide greater productivity across their development organizations.
Quest will be exhibiting at the IBM Information on Demand 2006 conference October 15-18 in Anaheim, California. Demonstrations of all versions of Toad for DB2, Benchmark Factory([R]), Spotlight([R]) on DB2 and Quest Central([R]) for DB2 will be available at booth number 707.
