Business Wire, Oct 6, 2006

MIAMI -- The Environmental Protection Agency released guidance Monday suggesting guidelines for states to follow when permitting the underground injection of carbon dioxide from the U.S. Department of Energy's 25 Phase II pilot projects.

Speaking at a meeting of The Ground Water Protection Council, the EPA outlined a series of steps that state regulators should follow when issuing permits for these experimental pilot projects.

The Ground Water Protection Council is a national association of state ground water and underground injection control agencies whose mission is to promote the protection and conservation of ground water resources.
