Juniper Networks Rises to #2 in Overall Network Security Market; Infonetics Research Recognizes Juniper Networks as Clear #1 In High-End Firewall/VPN and SSL VPN Markets
Business Wire, Sept 11, 2006
SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq:JNPR) today announced that it is now the second-largest security vendor in the industry by revenue, according to Infonetics Research, Inc.'s recent report titled, "Network Security Appliances and Software Quarterly Worldwide Market Share and Forecasts for 2Q06." According to the report, Juniper Networks garnered 10 percent revenue market share based on all security product categories during the second quarter of 2006, while also showing growth within most major product categories in which it participates.
"The number two position in overall network security is a great achievement for Juniper Networks, augmenting the company's leadership position in the SSL VPN and high-end firewall markets," said Jeff Wilson, principal analyst for VPNs and security at Infonetics Research. "Additionally, Juniper recently started shipping new router/integrated security appliance products. Once they start shipping in volume over the next few quarters, we expect to see their security business pick up overall."
The same report recognized Juniper Networks as the leader in the high-end firewall and virtual private network (FW/VPN) product category (greater than or equal to $30,000 price band), with 35 percent revenue market share during 2Q06. The Juniper Networks high-end firewall/VPN products include the NetScreen-5000 series, delivering up to 30Gbps high-end firewall and 15Gbps VPN throughput, and the Integrated Security Gateway (ISG) 1000 and 2000 firewall/VPNs. A key factor of Juniper Networks success with customers is the integration of the company's IDP intrusion prevention functionality into the ISG. Juniper Networks sets the standard for multi-service security gateways by offering medium-to-large enterprises, carriers and data centers the ISG 1000 and 2000 platforms as a single firewall/VPN service or with intrusion detection and prevention (IDP) as an elective add-on to protect its networks with increased levels of delivery and threat controls. Customers continue to recognize the value of Juniper Networks' next generation firewall with intrusion detection and prevention capabilities.
Juniper was also recognized again as the overall market share leader in the SSL VPN market with 27 percent revenue market share. Juniper has been the SSL VPN market share leader since the inception of the market category.
