TNT Express Worldwide Networks Chooses Unisys Cargo System to Extend Its Air Freight Business; Unisys to Host and Integrate Its Logistics Management System for Major Logistics Organization Under a Multi-Year Agreement

Business Wire, Sept 12, 2006

BLUE BELL, Pa. -- Unisys Corporation (NYSE:UIS) today announced that TNT Express Worldwide Networks (TNT) has chosen the Unisys Logistics Management System (LMS) to manage its air cargo operations. Under a multi-year agreement, Unisys will also be providing hosting and integration services and will be working closely with TNT on the implementation and cut-over expected in September or October this year.

TNT chose Unisys Logistics solutions and services to further secure its air cargo business operations for a number of reasons. First, as Unisys LMS is Web-based, there is no need for any software deployment by the user and the easy access allows TNT to deploy it in parallel with their express network and more quickly react to changing market needs on a global scale. Second, the system will allow TNT to integrate process control tools such as bar code scanners and interface with automated warehouse systems. The system will also be able to integrate RFID tracking technology as it is more widely adopted. Furthermore, by using Unisys hosting services with lower support costs coupled with operation through personal computer browsers, TNT expects to realize lower IT costs overall and an increased return on investment.

"We are working well with Unisys on this important implementation which will help us to grow our freight business, using our existing network and the new freighters we are deploying," said John Batten, managing director, Global Network & Air Cargo Sales, TNT. "We evaluated many system suppliers and concluded that Unisys expertise and their proven solution was the best match for us today and in the future."

TNT Express is the world's leading business to business express delivery company. The company delivers 3.5 million parcels, documents and pieces of freight a week to more than 200 countries using its network of nearly 900 depots, hubs and sortation centres.

TNT Express operates over 19,000 road vehicles and 43 aircraft and has the biggest door-to-door air and road express delivery infrastructure in Europe.

"Unisys is very proud to have been selected by TNT. Their range of experience and ambition will be valuable additions to the industry's foremost air cargo community," said Christopher Shawdon, vice president, Logistics Solutions for Unisys.

Unisys LMS is an end-to-end solution that integrates the key aspects of freight processing for carriers, ground-handlers and freight forwarders. These include door-to-door support for time definite products, space management of flight inventories, the automated processing of shipments in line with commitments, operation with yield management partner services, and powerful supply-chain messaging tools. LMS is browser-based, uses modern open standard interfaces and includes comprehensive security measures to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive data.
