Business Wire, Sept 12, 2006
NEEDHAM, Mass. -- Cantata Technology(TM), the world's leading independent provider of enabling communications technology, announced today it has released a new version of its popular IMG 1010 Integrated Media and Signaling Gateway (IMG 1010(TM)), which expands its Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) feature set to encompass the requirements of advanced VoIP service providers for wholesale traffic, as well as enhanced SIP services.
Cantata Technology was established in 2006 through the combination of Excel Switching Corporation and Brooktrout Technology(R).
Cantata's IMG 1010 is an integrated media and signaling gateway that provides any-to-any network connectivity, enabling delivery of SIP services into legacy SS7/PRI networks, as well as IP to IP transcoding for IP network peering applications. The IMG 1010 offers service providers unparalleled performance, reliability, and flexibility to introduce services across fixed and mobile networks worldwide.
The new, enhanced version of the IMG 1010 includes an expanded, robust SIP feature set, including SIP redirect for enhanced routing control, as well as SIP Info for transmitting digits to SIP application servers. To enhance usability for managing large networks, the enhanced IMG 1010 also incorporates SNMP and MRTG as standards-based management and monitoring interfaces, resulting in increased product reliability and uptime.
"The IMG 1010, in its first year of commercial availability, has achieved significant market acceptance, and has already been deployed by nearly 40 carriers in 15 countries spanning five continents," said Peter Vescuso, vice president, marketing, Cantata Technology. "The expanded SIP functionality of the enhanced IMG 1010 provides an attractive, cost-effective integrated media gateway solution for carriers to obtain a significant competitive advantage as they migrate to a lucrative, all-VoIP environment."
"NexTone applauds the SIP advancements incorporated into the latest version of Cantata's IMG 1010, " said Dan Dearing, vice president, marketing, NexTone. "The IMG 1010, with its advanced SIP feature set, allows service providers to fully utilize the advanced session management capabilities of NexTone's IntelliConnect(TM) System, thereby rapidly enabling the deployment of revenue-generating VoIP services."
