Network Physics Ends the Network Versus Application Blame Game; New Products Offer Enhanced Focus on the User Experience to Provide the Missing Link in Application Performance
Business Wire, Sept 12, 2006
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. -- Network Physics, the leader in real-time application performance insight, today announced new products to bring an end to the network versus application blame game. The expanded portfolio of hardware and software solutions delivers an unmatched combination of real-time performance management, application discovery, and business reporting, enhancing the ability of IT to extract maximum business value from their key applications. The products announced include:
--NetSensory Version 6.0 (preview) -- the industry's first real-time network-wide application performance management solution to offer out-of-the-box classification and monitoring of major enterprise applications such as VoIP, Oracle, SAP, and Microsoft (e.g., Exchange, Sharepoint, etc.)
--NetSensory Business Reporter (preview) -- scalable, business level reporting: up to 1500 reports/day, with business-hour reporting
--NP-3000 NetSensory Appliance -- a high-performance, 2U platform with double the storage of high-granularity data (1-minute and 5-minute) for troubleshooting and 25% greater throughput
--NetSensory Version 5.3 -- real-time service level performance summary and deeper insight into undefined applications
Today's announcements continue Network Physics' drive to provide the missing link in application performance with solutions that present the user experience -- the common language of both network and application managers -- in terms of its network and server components and relative business impact. This eliminates the guesswork and confusion that is prevalent with technologies that cannot provide real-time views into business application performance in terms that are meaningful across management domains.
"Application developers and application vendors have come to realize that application performance is determined by the interaction of the application and the network," said Joe Skorupa, Research Vice President at Gartner Group. "The realization by application vendors that application delivery controllers and WAN optimization controllers can significantly improve the performance of their applications is an example of this. But finger-pointing between the network and application teams is still an obstacle to good application performance. Solutions that enhance communications between network and application engineers by giving them common reference points will be necessary to maximize enterprise return from critical application investments."
"When we deployed the Network Physics NetSensory appliances the ROI was little short of immediate," said Geri Carolan, Director of IT Infrastructure at Frontier Airlines. "But just as important as the real-time insight into our critical applications, and the impact of our network on the user experience, was the enhanced cross-management communication NetSensory provides. The network and application teams can clearly see where their responsibilities for application performance lie, and I can clearly communicate the need for, and benefits of, needed upgrades to the CFO and other non-technical managers. The new product promises features that will further enhance these benefits, especially the application discovery and business reporting, and I am looking forward to trying them in our network during the beta testing."
Real-time Application Insight
Network Physics today unveiled a preview of NetSensory 6.0, further challenging the status quo of network application management solutions with real-time discovery and classification of key applications in customer networks. NetSensory 6.0 will deliver unprecedented quality-of-service and resource planning for major enterprise applications such Oracle, SAP, Microsoft Exchange, VoIP, and many more. NetSensory 6.0 delivers real-time application discovery and monitoring impossible for packet-decode based products, and insight into complex applications such as VoIP and Microsoft Exchange impossible to port-based solutions.
A highlight of NetSensory 6.0 will be application-specific NetSensory Insights that leverage the knowledge gained from customers in managing these applications on the network. These Insights feature specific views, drill-downs, and troubleshooting processes that will speed problem identification and mean-time-to-resolution, both of which are critical to realizing the maximum value from key business applications. NetSensory 6.0 will be available in Q1 2007.
Live at Interop
Network Physics will demo NetSensory 6.0 with real-time data from Interop's eNET network at the company's booth 455 at Interop New York 2006, September 18-22. The demo will feature real-time views of all aspects of the eNet from Network Physics NetSensory appliances.
Business Reporting
Network Physics today also unveiled Business Reporter, a NetSensory software add-on with a simple graphical interface that allows customers to automate the delivery of hundreds of reports daily to both technical and non-technical users. Featuring business-hour reporting and role-based access control, Business Reporter is designed for strategic, business-level reporting, which is typically done on daily, weekly, monthly basis. This complements NetSensory's existing tactical reporting features designed for troubleshooting, which is typically done on a one-minute, five-minute, or hourly basis. The Business Reporter software add-on will be available in Q1 2007, as a licensed upgrade to the NP-Director platform.
