Sourcefire® Expands Board of Directors with Addition of Veteran Industry and Military Leaders; Ciena Chief Financial Officer to Chair Audit Committee; Former Air Force Inspector General to Chair Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee

COLUMBIA, Md. -- Open source innovator, Sourcefire, Inc., a leader in network intrusion prevention, today announced that it has added Joseph R. Chinnici, Senior Vice President, Finance, and Chief Financial Officer at Ciena Corporation, and retired Air Force Lieutenant General Steven R. Polk, to the Sourcefire Board of Directors.

Joseph R. Chinnici has been with Ciena Corporation since 1994. He has served as Senior Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer since August 1997. He previously served as Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer from May 1995 and as Controller when he joined the company in September 1994. With nearly 30 years of experience in finance, Mr. Chinnici previously held a variety of accounting and finance positions at Halston Borghese Inc. and Playtex Apparel, Inc. (now a division of Sara Lee Corporation).
A thirty-eight year Air Force veteran, Lieutenant General Steven R. Polk retired in February 2006 after serving as Inspector General of the Air Force since 2003. In this role he led a team of over 2,500 professionals with missions that included evaluating the combat readiness of the Air Force combat force; managing criminal investigations and counter-intelligence activities; and resolving complaints. Previously, General Polk served as Vice Commander, Pacific Air Forces, the number two officer in the command responsible for Air Force operations in the Pacific Rim region. In that capacity, he oversaw 45,000 personnel, ten bases and over 300 aircraft based principally in Hawaii, Alaska, Guam, Korea and Japan.
