MIT'S Technology Review Launches the 'TR Vlog' Video Blog to Chronicle the Personalities behind Innovation
Business Wire, Sept 14, 2006
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Today MIT's Technology Review launched a unique video blog, or vlog, on its website to visually chronicle the achievements of the technology leaders and innovators featured in the magazine, its website, and at its annual Emerging Technologies Conference (TRETC). Motorola is the exclusive sponsor for the launch of the "TR Vlog".
The TR Vlog features speakers from the 2006 TRETC, beginning with an opening statement by Editor-in-Chief and Publisher Jason Pontin. The first post is an interview with Sebastian Thrun, head of the robotics lab at Stanford University, and winner of the DARPA Grand Challenge.
The video blog is located at http://www.technologyreview.com/blog/video.aspx
Technology Review's vlog will be a place where winners of the magazine's annual "TR35"--35 innovators under the age of 35--will be featured.
Bryan Cantrill from Sun Microsystems, and Stewart Butterfield, founder of Flickr (both 2005 TR35 winners) are among the first innovators featured.
During the two day TRETC on September 27-28, the Technology Review vlog will include multiple "live" posts from MIT. Sponsor Motorola will demonstrate new wireless devices that include audio and video blogging capabilities. Information on the conference can be found here: http://www.technologyreview.com/events/tretc/index.aspx
The TR Vlog is being published in collaboration with Beet.TV (www.beet.tv), the pioneering video blog production and marketing firm based in New York.
According to Pontin, "This is an exciting platform for us. By nature, science and technology innovation is personality driven. We aim to bring to life the extraordinary stories of the people on the leading edge of their fields that we feature in our magazine and on our website."
