Business Wire, Sept 18, 2006
SEATTLE -- Insightful Corporation (NASDAQ:IFUL), a leading provider of predictive analytics and reporting solutions, today announced that one of its customers, Time/Warner Retail Sales & Marketing, (TWRSM) a subsidiary of Time Inc, has been selected as a finalist for the "Best Practices in Business Intelligence" awards program. TWRSM was named a finalist by Computerworld's Business Intelligence Perspectives, the premier conference for leaders in the business intelligence and IT management sector, in the Information Retrieval and Reporting by Leveraging Off-the-Shelf Enterprise Software category.
"We are very proud that Time/Warner Retail Sales & Marketing has been named a finalist for this prestigious award. We believe this provides further validation of the benefits of deploying the power of predictive analytics across the enterprise," said Jeff Coombs, CEO of Insightful. "Time/Warner Retail Sales & Marketing is at the forefront of delivering in-depth analysis to all of its key decision makers to ensure they are striking the right production and inventory levels across all of their distribution channels."
"We believe that our solution demonstrates that business intelligence should not just be about reporting, but more importantly it should be a business process driver," said Dilip Patel, Director of Business Intelligence Systems and & Information Management for Time/Warner Retail Sales & Marketing. "And by integrating advanced analytical engines like S-PLUS, we have added strategic value to achieving this goal."
TWRSM's Information Management department has applied advanced analytics to deliver in-depth analysis of market and customer (store) data. TWRSM integrated Insightful's S-PLUS(R) Server with TWRSM's established data portals and Microsoft Office. Analysts familiar with S-PLUS can now integrate and publish their analytics on the company's business intelligence portal improving the timeliness and quality of information sharing both enterprise wide and also with TWRSM's client publishers. Now client publishers can directly access the TWRSM business intelligence portal and retrieve analytics that can help them analyze and manage their magazine business. With Insightful's S-PLUS Enterprise Server solution in place, TWRSM has been able to more effectively manage magazine inventory at retail resulting in generating incremental profits of $3.5 million annually.
"Business intelligence initiatives are at the center of converting information technology to information management and competitive advantage," said Ron Milton, Executive Vice President, Computerworld. "The organizations and professionals judged to be finalists in Computerworld's 2006 'Best Practices in Business Intelligence' Awards Program have unlocked the true value of business intelligence and applying analytics to their advantage."
