Spectra Logic Ships Low-Cost Spectra T24 Library for SMBs; Spectra T24 Library Uses up to Two LTO Drives, Stores 19TB in Just 2U
Business Wire, Sept 18, 2006
BOULDER, Colo. -- Spectra Logic, the data storage leader in innovative solutions, is introducing the Spectra(R) T24 LTO tape library for SMBs (small to medium-sized businesses). The Spectra T24 rounds out Spectra Logic's T-series LTO library family, which now includes the T24, T50, T120 and T950. The T24 is built using proven technology and provides SMBs with worry-free, reliable backups.
"CDW technology experts design and recommend storage options from leading manufacturers to help customers manage information in a strategic and cost-effective way," said Andrew Loughlin, manager of CDW's storage specialist team. "In addition to security, small and medium-sized businesses are concerned about storage products' ease-of-use and density. With those needs in mind, we view the Spectra T24 as a good option for companies seeking enterprise-level benefits at an affordable SMB price."
The Spectra T24 library with two half-height LTO-3 drives transfers compressed data at 240 MB/sec throughput and provides a capacity of up to 19 TB. With the T24, every size of organization can take advantage of the most widely used drives on the market -- LTO drives. The LTO roadmap extends through six generations, and tapes are available through multiple vendors, promising affordability and a long life for LTO automation libraries, including the T24.
"Spectra Logic's T24 library completes our LTO family as an entry-level library that suits customers or disaster recovery sites with smaller budgets or data storage requirements than those interested in our 50-slot Spectra T50," said Molly Rector, vice president of marketing, Spectra Logic. "The T24 library is perfect for businesses with smaller backup budgets, while still providing room to grow within the library -- which scales from 12 to 24 slots -- and the expanded capacity promised in future LTO drive and tape generations."
Availability and pricing
The Spectra T24 is now shipping through Spectra Logic's partner CDW. Pricing begins at $4,385 for a single-drive Spectra T24.
