Advanced Technology Systems Named to Lockheed Martin's SBInet Team
Business Wire, Sept 18, 2006
MCLEAN, Va. -- Advanced Technology Systems, Inc., an IT company that delivers innovative technology solutions to federal, state, and local government organizations, today announced it is one of eight key partners on Lockheed Martin's (NYSE:LMT) team competing to deliver a Secure Border Initiative (SBInet) solution to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The SBInet program is a comprehensive multi-year plan to secure America's 6000 miles of borders.
"Advanced Technology Systems is proud to be part of Lockheed Martin's elite team vying for SBInet," said Leon Perry, Chief Operating Officer of Advanced Technology Systems. "With our extensive experience in mobile data solutions, information sharing and secure data access for law enforcement, we are well positioned to help deliver a flexible, integrated solution for DHS that will protect America's citizens and secure its borders."
Advanced Technology Systems' homeland security experience includes supporting the DHS' Homeland Security Advanced Research Projects Agency (HSARPA) and the Federal Air Marshal Service (FAMS). The company also supports the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the National Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (Nlets) - an International Justice and Public Information Sharing Network - and more than 500 local, state and Federal law enforcement agencies. Additionally, Advanced Technology Systems owns and operates a multi-state (18 states) network to secure wireless access into state and national criminal justice information data systems.
As part of the Lockheed Martin solution team for SBInet, Advanced Technology Systems will apply its expertise in mobile data solutions, Global Justice XML Data Model (GJXDM)-based applications, and secure access to Nlets, NCIC, and CJIS data to meet SBInet information sharing goals. The company will also leverage its experience with enhanced data access, sensor fusion, and communications capabilities in providing situational awareness along the border.
Other partner companies joining Lockheed Martin in its bid for the SBInet contract include Accenture (NYSE:ACN), HDR, Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), High Performance Technologies Inc. (HPTi), Parsons Corporation, Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), and Sandler & Travis Trade Advisory Services (STTAS).
The Lockheed Martin team is one of five teams competing for the estimated $2 billion border surveillance system contract. DHS is expected to make an award later this month.
