Double-Take® Software Releases Double-Take Application Manager 4.1; Expands Application Support to Include SQL Server, Adds New Data Protection and Management Capabilities
Business Wire, Sept 19, 2006
SOUTHBOROUGH, Mass. -- Double-Take(R) Software today released Double-Take Application Manager 4.1 which includes SQL Server support, additional Exchange Server protection options, and improved monitoring and management features for protecting application data on the Windows(R) platform.
Double-Take Application Manager, which now supports both SQL Server and Exchange Server, integrates the management of application protection into a single administrative interface allowing for increased automation and ease of setup. The end result is improved protection, reduced recovery times and a higher level of application availability for Windows based customers running business critical systems that rely on SQL Server and Exchange Server.
"As companies move their businesses toward SQL environments, a key challenge is to employ a solution to protect and manage them," said Rhoda Phillips, storage research manager at IDC. "Solutions like Double-Take Application Manager 4.1 provide customers with a user-friendly management tool for configuring and testing their server environments."
In addition to SQL Server support, Double-Take Application Manager 4.1 extends support for Exchange Servers running on Microsoft(R) Clusters and features target data verification testing, adding to the numerous capabilities provided in the first release of the product (see Double-Take Software Announces Double-Take Application Manager, http://www.doubletake.com/_docs/pr/DTPRDTAM.pdf, February 27, 2006). The new target data verification test feature allows IT administrators to test the usability and integrity of protected data in an automated way. These tests can be performed without disturbing the production environment and allow customers to verify that their data is protected and available in the event of a disaster.
"Our customers want the ability to manage their data protection solution with the least amount of effort possible and without disrupting their organization's day-to-day operations," said Bob Roudebush, director of solutions engineering at Double-Take Software. "Double-Take Application Manager makes that possible. And what's more, it's part of our existing Double-Take offering - which means that customers can get a high level of protection and manageability at an affordable price. With version 4.1, we are able to extend this capability to both our Exchange and SQL customers, broadening the positive impact it has on our customer base."
iVault Corporation (www.ivault.com), a Double-Take Software partner that provides managed services for disaster recovery, real-time data replication, business continuity and high-availability solutions, has already conducted several successful fire drill tests using Double-Take Application Manager on SQL Servers.
"Double-Take Application Manager takes the uncertainty out of failover and that makes our customers happy," said Kevin Bento, president at iVault. "There have been many instances where our customers have experienced network outages, but have been able to function seamlessly with their current Double-Take solution. If we throw a natural disaster or virus into the mix, Double-Take Application Manager for SQL will make it a non-issue because our customers still won't miss a beat."
Double-Take Application Manager 4.1, which includes the Double-Take Manager for SQL, is now generally available at no additional charge for all existing Double-Take customers covered by product maintenance.
