Sonim Joins Forces with Adventnet, GoAhead and Solid to Bring to Market the First Carrier-Grade OMA PoC 1.0 Platform; Fully Redundant OMA PoC Service Delivering 99.999% Service Reliability
Business Wire, Sept 21, 2006
SAN MATEO, Calif. -- Sonim Technologies, a leader in the emerging market for mobile VoIP push-to-talk solutions for enterprises, today announced commercial availability of the first fully redundant implementation of OMA PoC 1.0, the new IMS-compliant standard for PTT interoperability. Sonim's Xperience PoC Server ("XPS") implementation has been completed ahead of other market aspirants thanks in part to several enabling technologies from Sonim's best-in-class solution partners, Adventnet, GoAhead(R) Software and Solid Information Technology.
Sonim and these partners have collaborated for several years on designing and producing a high-performance platform that is able to deliver carrier-grade OMA PoC services at the lowest cost point in the market - both in small scale and large scale deployments. The combined solution features all the performance and reporting capabilities expected by Tier 1 mobile operators, yet also enables efficient small scale initial deployments through the use of an innovative PC clustering architecture.
Adventnet's contribution to the solution includes a turn-key element and network management system that compliments the Sonim platform with the rich provisioning and reporting capabilities demanded by today's network operators.
"Sonim has built a world class IMS-based OMA PoC solution that leverages Adventnet's unique approach to network and element management," said Ian Wenig, Director of Business Development at Adventnet. "Sonim is a great example of an Adventnet customer that has been able to significantly reduce development cost and time to market by leveraging our industry-leading OEM software solutions for system management and performance."
GoAhead provides the Sonim platform with a standards-based, high availability middleware solution that facilitates real-time system failover and enables 99.999% availability or greater. With more than 12,000 deployments worldwide, GoAhead's solution is used by equipment manufacturers looking to speed time to market and reduce development and integration costs.
"We have been very pleased to enable Sonim to ensure fault tolerance of its OMA PoC platform," said Jim Ewel, CEO at GoAhead. "We believe the OMA PoC standard will be one of the first major IMS applications deployed by mobile operators. By leveraging GoAhead, Sonim can ensure deployments rapidly scale while maintaining carrier-grade system availability."
Solid Information Technology contributed to Sonim its high-speed, always-on and affordable database, allowing Sonim's customers to benefit from the same high quality of services Solid is already delivering in more than 3,000,000 mission-critical deployments worldwide.
"Sonim's rigorous needs of nearly zero latency and always-on performance were an ideal match with Solid's industry leading database speed and 99.9999% availability," said Paola Lubet, Vice President, Marketing and Business Development at Solid. "Solid is proud of its role in helping Sonim create a leading solution for customers of this fast emerging market."
"By aligning with these three best-in-class companies, Sonim has successfully become first to market with a low cost, high-reliability OMA PoC application platform," said Bob Plaschke, CEO of Sonim "As we enhance our core solution with Push-to-Voicemail and Push-to-Video functionality, our platform partners will continue to play an important role in ensuring both cost and time-to-market advantages."
