Netopia's Broadband Service Assurance Solutions Enable Independent Service Providers to Compete in Triple-Play Services; Company's Unique Gateway-to-Desktop Strategy to Assure Broadband Access, VoIP, and IPTV
Business Wire, Sept 21, 2006
EMERYVILLE, Calif. -- Netopia, Inc. (Nasdaq:NTPA), a market leader in broadband gateways and service delivery software, is participating in several regional telecommunications events in September. Netopia will showcase its service assurance solutions for independent operating companies (IOCs) and Internet service providers to use to deploy and manage next-generation triple-play services, including voice over IP (VoIP) and video on demand. Netopia's service assurance solutions include broadband gateways with best-in-class performance, software for service deployment and customer care, and hosted value-added broadband services.
"Independent service providers -- smaller regional telecom companies -- are facing brutal competition from cable and wireless companies. We give the IOCs powerful tools to enable them to compete effectively," said Sean McAndrews, Netopia's northeast regional sales manager. "Consumers and business customers through the northeast are moving to broadband connectivity. We help IOCs make their DSL offering the right choice by delivering hardware and software to ensure the deployment and management of DSL services, from gateway to desktop."
As part of the company's outreach efforts, Netopia participates in regional telephone association meetings. Yesterday, company representatives participated in the HTC Mid-Sized Conference in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Today, the company is exhibiting at the Pennsylvania Telephone and New York State Telecommunications Associations' annual conference in State College, Pennsylvania. And on September 24th through 27th, Netopia representatives will participate at the NTCA Fall Meeting in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
"IOCs are an important market for Netopia," said Christopher Thompson, Netopia's vice president of marketing. "They face a significant economic challenge as they implement triple-play services, as it can be tremendously expensive to deploy and manage a network of broadband devices. Our automated configuration product, NBBS, and our remote support product, eCare, help IOCs save money by reducing the costs of deployment and support. And Netopia helps service providers stop revenue leakage, with equipment features like integrated Wi-Fi and value-adding services like Timbuktu ToGo. The result is the potential for lower deployment and life-cycle costs, and higher revenue per subscriber."
