Daniel Petrocelli Slated as Keynote Speaker for UCLA Anderson School of Management's "Director Training and Certification Program"

LOS ANGELES -- UCLA Anderson School of Management Dean Judy Olian today announced that lawyer Daniel Petrocelli will be the keynote speaker for this fall's Director Training and Certification Program. Petrocelli, lead counsel for Jeffrey K. Skilling in U.S. v. Jeffrey Skilling and Kenneth Lay, will address attendees of the program's Opening Night Networking Dinner on October 10, 2006.

"Mr. Petrocelli, who has been part of the defense team on one of the most high profile corporate trials of our time, will reflect on the trends in corporate governance and accountability from his unique vantage point," said Dean Olian.

A partner with Century City law firm O'Melveny & Myers, Petrocelli will discuss his experience as lead counsel for Jeffrey Skilling in the Enron trial and how it demonstrates disturbing trends in the prosecution of corporate executives, directors, and corporations. He will also cover topics such as: the effect of negative publicity and hostile community attitudes and the obstacles they pose to maintaining an effective defense; and strategies that prosecutors employ in these cases to gain an unfair advantage over defendants. Petrocelli's national trial practice represents clients in major litigation in a wide variety of areas including entertainment, intellectual property, unfair competition, business torts, securities, employment law, and criminal defense.
