SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- VirtualLogix[TM], Inc., the Real-Time Virtualization[TM] company, today announced its new product line Co VLX for Network Infrastructure. The product line allows VirtualLogix and Intel customers to easily and rapidly migrate from single-core to multi-core processors, such as the Intel([R])Core[TM]2 Duo Processor E6400 and Intel[R] Core[TM]2 Duo Processor T7400, which is Intel's latest multi-core processors based on the new Intel[R] Core[TM] Microarchitecture. As an affiliate member of the Intel Communications Alliance, VirtualLogix continues to align its products with real-time virtualization capabilities to support the latest multi-core processors from Intel.
VirtualLogix VLX for Network Infrastructure allows customers to immediately take advantage of the latest Intel processor technology advancements by enabling seamless migration from single-core to multi-core processors. This migration enables customers to run commercial or proprietary real-time operating systems (RTOS) and Linux simultaneously on the same multi-core processor, resulting in reduced bill of materials, optimized performance and lowered power consumption. VLX for Network Infrastructure customers are able to use their preferred operating systems, which can run unmodified on the Intel Core Microarchitecture. Hardware is consolidated because multiple heterogeneous operating systems are able to co-exist on a single platform. In addition, porting efforts are eliminated and the need to re-validate existing software is dramatically reduced, enabling customers to immediately take advantage of the latest hardware technology.
"VirtualLogix is committed to supporting the Intel roadmap and enabling Intel customers to easily migrate to multi-core processors with our real-time virtualization technology," said Mark Milligan, vice president of marketing, VirtualLogix. "VirtualLogix can help end users develop new solutions that consolidate hardware options and deliver higher performance."
The new Intel Core Microarchitecture is designed to deliver increased performance and greater performance-per-watt. The technology provides customers with the design flexibility needed to create new, improved solutions and form factors, while increasing overall energy efficiency and flexibility of design.
"Intel recognizes VirtualLogix's continued leadership in real-time virtualization software," said Joe Jensen, general manager, Marketing and Platform Programs, Communications Infrastructure Group, Intel. "Beyond VirtualLogix's ability to innovate, the VirtualLogix team has been a successful early adopter to initially support the Dual Core Intel Xeon[R] processor 5100 Series and now the Intel Core2 Duo processors."
VLX for Network Infrastructure will be demonstrated at the Intel Developer's Forum, Intel booth #515, in San Francisco on September 26-28, 2006.
Pricing and Availability
VirtualLogix VLX for Network Infrastructure, with support for the Intel Core2 Duo processors, will be available in the fourth quarter of 2006.
